Hobart sailor drowned in Cock of Huon

The Sargisons Jewellers and Kermandie Hotel Pipe Opener Series started from Hobart at 7.40pm on Friday evening. The race started in 15-20 knots. It took the 38 boat fleet down the River Derwent and into the d'Entrecasteaux Channel on a course shortened because of sea swell, although on 15-120 knot wind conditions were expected during the race.. A few hours after the start of the race a Hobart sailor in his 50s, a member of the Royal Yacht Club of Tasmania, was reported MOB from one of the competing yachts.
