Superyacht success to be harnessed for Asia

'ONE?15 Marina Club - fitting conference venue' .

While the marine industry is littered by casualties of the Global Financial Crisis, the superyacht sector, where some yachts can cost upwards of $100 million with owners spending 10% of that per annum on upkeep, was one of the least affected and continues to surge ahead unabated in the Mediterranean and the Caribbean.

Now the bright lights of the superyacht industry across Asia are meeting in Singapore to try to harness their share of that economic resilience.

Over 140 delegates from over 30 countries have confirmed their attendance for the 1st Asia Superyacht Conference starting today and being held at the lavish ONE?15 Marina Club on Singapore's Sentosa Island.

The conference has received the full backing of the Singapore Government and Mr S Iswaran, Minister of State for Trade & Industry and Education will be the conference guest of honour and will make a keynote address today.

The conference includes over 25 speakers from 15 different countries with a focus all the way from China to Australia.

The agenda for the Asian superyacht industry during the conference is to understand the opportunities and limitations for both superyacht cruising and building in the Asian region.

The event is organised by the Singapore Superyacht Association (SSA).

SSA Executive Director, Jean-Jacques Lavigne commented 'It's exciting to see so many companies that are new to us booking for the conference. Delegates from within and outside the region will have an unprecedented opportunity to make new business contacts and learn about the business in Asia,' .

The two day conference will be followed by a day of marina visits in Singapore on the 15th to view superyacht facilities.
