'Matilda cruiser after the tragedy' .
Tourists onboard the Matilda cruise boat were horrified to find three men and an eight-year-old boy floating in Sydney Harbour last night. One of the men was unconscious. Those on board the well-known pleasure cruiser quickly called the police. In the meantime they lifted the child from the water.

When the water police arrived an officer jumped in to assist the three men to board the Matilda, including the unconscious man, whom police attempted to revive, unsuccessfully.

Paramedics were summoned and they also tried to revive the man without success.

The incident occurred at around 7.50pm last night off Shark Island. The man was pronounced dead by the paramedics before they arrived at Rose Bay Wharf.

Police last night were identifying the dead man, and commenced investigations into how the tragedy happened.

Divers will attempt to find the sunken boat today
