Velux 5 Oceans - Canadian ocean racer helpless as race leaders escape. Derek Hatfield said this morning he is 'devastated' to still be in the Doldrums. At the end of last week the 57-year-old was just a few hundred miles behind race leader Brad Van Liew, sights firmly set on escaping the frustrating and unpredictable weather that characterises the Doldrums.
