Changes announced for Redcliffe Offshore Grand Prix

A 'scheduling clash' has forced organisers to make a minor alteration to the Redcliffe Offshore Grand Prix, final round of the 2009 Offshore Superboat Championships.

The previously advertised start time, 1100hrs, Sunday, September 13, has been set back one hour to 1200hrs.

Consequently, scrutineering has also been put back one hour and will now take place 1100hrs to 1400hrs.

All other times are unchanged.

The Maritimo Offshore Race Team, already confirmed as Class 1 champions with its #1 boat, the Lamborghini-powered 'Maritimo', will be using a different boat I the final round.

Crew chief Peter 'Muddy' McGrath has been testing the as yet un-named boat, with dual carburettor engines of 750hp each, in recent weeks and pronounced it 'ready to go.'

The catamaran was built at Maritimo's Hope Island production facility and is identical to the boats used by the team on the Middle East and European circuits.

Maritimo will also start its #2 boat, 'Simrad', but its regular driver, Luke Durman, is unavailable due to overseas business commitments.

Team owner Bill Barry-Cotter may take the wheel with McGrath on throttles, with Tom Barry-Cotter and Ross Willaton aboard 'Maritimo'.

Organisers have arranged a presentation dinner following the racing to be held at the Moreton Bay Boat Club from 1830hrs.
