Comment sought on managing recreational abalone fishing in WA

An important policy paper has been posted on the Western Australian Department of Fisheries website, to seek public comment on future management of recreational roe's abalone fishing. A working group, including representatives of the recreational fishing sector, has proposed management options, developed after the Minister for Fisheries set an annual recreational catch share of 40 tonnes, in the West Coast abalone fishing zone, on the basis of advice provided by the independent Integrated Fisheries Allocation Advisory Committee (IFAAC).
