I got one of those Gillete 5 blade - actually 6 blades if you count the one on the other side - fusion shavers, cause they were on special at coles and the packaging looked kind of impressive. I reckon since using it over the past two weeks it's been the best shave I've had in 20 odd years of shaving.

Usually I buy those 20 packs of bic 2 blade thingos and they are ok first go, the problem is I just do a lucky dip into the pack every second morning and don't replace them enough.

Every year the kids buy me the obligatory shaving creams and crap for my birthday which kind of just sits there. That was until I got this fusion whiz bang thingo, all those presents have now got a new life and shaving has become quite enjoyable for me.

I know most of us males do this all the time - what works best for you?

i guess it depends the single povo bics feel like they are ripping out skin when your tryn to shave a billy goats gruff!!!!

the single seem to work fine if its a regular shave.

Quick electric shave with a Phillips washable three head. Doesn't take long, does an adequate job and it's easy to rinse clean.

Finish off in the shower with a Gillette triple blade razor and soap.

Gets the missed bits and gives a close shave. The water makes the remaining whiskers stand up so it's easy to feel that I'm getting the last ones.

Doesn't take as long as a full shave in the shower so it doesn't waste much water.

Doesn't need a really good razor because it's just a clean up and gives me an excuse to soak in the shower for a minute.

I was using one of the Schick 2 blade razors that was easy to wash the bristle out of and then they stopped producing them.

Hunted around and around for something to replace it.

Eventually found the Gillette Sensor Excel. Just a 2 blade shaver without too many blingy bits.

I get a good shave from it and each pair of blades will last for months.

Ha! I got suckered by the special price too. See how much you like it when you have to buy new blades. Tell the kids to start saving up now.

I find a good quality shave is as much about the soap as it is the Blade.
I use Gillette sensor Excel with rubber bits and two blades low bling.

But i use this soap

its awesome leaves your face leaving cool yet fresh and moisturised.
at $12 a pop it aint cheap but it is so worth it - and it lasts for yonks

Im with you Oly,
I used to be tight arse until this missus said " why don't you try it " As I was sick of spending money on crap that goes blunt.
The Fusion are great, and the price of replacement blades, well one blade can last me up to a month shaving three times a week. Expensive outlay but cheaper in the long run, and a much smoother shave. This way I can wait till they come on special and buy a couple of packs, lasts for months then.
I would also reccomend the fusion cream, much better than homebrand.
Shaving needs to be pleasant, and at my age if I can't do at least that for myself I should probably go hippy and give up shaving and B.O spray as well.
