it will fly because everyone knows planes dont need air going over the wings... its all in the wheels and friction [serious sarcasm, its a stupid question and fooling your self into thinking that a tread mill will work is a sure way to stop any of your future posts being taken seriously]

I was watching a 747 take off one day in the company of an aerospace engineer. He turned to me and told me that according to the laws of physics, a 747 can't actually fly. I asked him how it stayed up there. He said it was the collective belief of 400 people that a 474 could fly.

The same thing gets said about bumble bees (though could be urban myth). If so then it is the science that is wrong.

Well according the Matrix (and the the Eaton rowing song) life is but a dream. There's nothing new about collective delusion, but is it a case of mind over matter or mind over mind? Am I imagining this? Agggh (desperately seeking an absolute) I think therefore I am. Ehhhh hew.... that was close.

One more beer and I'll be moving in to share Rellies cardboard box. Thinks "remember to take shoes".

One 747 engine produces about 18 tonnes of thrust.
(RB211 produces 40000 lbs of thrust at sea level)
So 4 could lift 50 tonnes vertically (Minus engine weight).
If you put enough engines on the aircraft in the picture and could get the nose lifted up by means of vectored thrust then it would take off, regardless of whether or not the treadmill was running.

Very interesting topic.
