I remember a simpler time when I could just take off into the Tasmanian Wilderness for 7 days without a worry in the world.
These days you kind of feel tied to your family, job, mobile phone, email, and seabreeze (

).
I remember one trip in Tassie, I walked the entire length of the Overland Track in 4 days, plus 2 peaks, The Labyrinth, and walked the Lake StClair section that many people get a ferry for. Then went and got on the bus to go and do Frenchmans Cap in 3 days. With a reverse charges call to mum from Derwent Bridge to say the Overland Track was great, and I was pushing on to Frenchmans.
On that trip, I remember getting to some huts at say 2pm when some people had already arrived, decided to settle in. But young and stupid me, I would just push through to the next hut. Go Go Go... but since going back, it is nicer to take you time, and finish walking at 2-3 in the arvo. Or take a long lunch, and finish at 4/4.30 latest.
