For the last 6 years I have had this problem. If I get cut sailing or surfing it ulcers but not otherwise. Started with a coral cut that went bad. Doctors keep poking at me and saying **** but can't help, even make it worse.





Does anyone else get these bastards? Anyone know the fix?

While getting above prescription, get Quack to include a sheet of DuoDERM CGF. That stuff is the bomb! Cut into appropriate size and apply to unscabbed wound. Make sure it's secure when you go surfing and reapply every week or so.

+1 to the duoderm... my wife is a nurse who does a lot of wound care. I had a simple graze on my knee that I kept knocking and was going a bit rank - two days with duoderm over the top and it cleaned up and reduced in size. Don't worry about the build up under the bandage - this is it working.

Is it available OTC here? I have just a little left from a previous existence...

When I was in Fiji I was told that this is from coral cuts, and the remedy I was told was to clean it out with tea-tree oil.

I did as advised and it seemed to have worked, but I think I only treated it when back in Aus, and it took a while. The suggestion was that there is still something in there, and the tea-tree oil is the only way to kill it.

If I had a medical problem I wouldn't be looking to seabreeze doctors, if it's skin related a dermatologist is who I'd be talking too,

youll need Bactroban, oral AB's and a supply of dressings.(Duoderms or other brands). Doc will say stay out of the water but you won't. So get some waterproof dressings to cover it while you're in the water. Shave the area too you hairy bastard..
The ocean is not a clean place for open wounds......

I went through a seriously horrendous bout of this which started off as a coral cut and took five months and four different doctors before a young Indian trained in Canada fixed it. I have scars on my arse which look as though I stopped a shotgun discharge. What was particularly annoying was one the fact that I was taking good care of my health and two it took a kid barely out of medical college to find the solution over a yank, an Aussie and another Indian.

The doctor that fixed it took one horrified look and ordered a comprehensive blood test. It transpired that I had a vitamin B12 deficiency which is quite common in vegetarians and a leading cause in the ulcers recurring. He put me on a course of intravenous Vit B12 injections coupled with more antibiotics and Bacteroban which I had been using on dressings.

It was like a miracle as I had had the bloody things for so long that I was seriously over it. That coupled with the fact that most of them were on my arse and I was driving a truck at the time which was very seriously painful.

Don't freak out Have a good read up on it ...Consult your GP and get an analysis of the wound I should really open a can of worms on the subject. Get a test I had this msra come up after a child birth. we donated the placenta to the university of Western Australia and they send us a letter which tested positive to a super bug. The positive infection could of been contamination from the hospital .. or from myself or my misses. I d like to hear more about this resolution or diagnosis. Might have to scout out petre mac to give us a rundown.
