I have a rule 2000 with a float switch installed. Ive had the boat for a year and although its not really used a lot its been working well when required. Last weekend it activated for no good reason and wouldn't switch off, I had to remove the float and twist the switch to its off position with pliers. The float has full travel but wont switch off. To compound the problem the pump discharged well without the hose on it but it wont lift the water to the outlet when put back on. The impellar seems ok to me and not damaged. It is a bit oily but not excessive. WTF is happening? Have I had 2 runs of bad luck all at once or am I missing something? Can anyone shed light on this for me, or do I need to put hand in pocket?
Is the pump wired up the right way ? they will often work both ways but one way a lot better than the other due to curved impellor blades Just a thought
Not sure why it activated thats a good one, could be the float switch was damaged they are a bit fragile.
is it submerged when testing, What hose, was it always there, did you change where the hose was going to, did you check the hose isn't clogged (had to ask), or if it's leaking into another section of the boat through a leak
Thanks for feedback all. yep wiring is good, hose is good, nothing has changed from when it was working well, Ive just had both components fail on the same day which I thought was odd. Heres a tip for those who aren't already on to it. A new replacement pump with switch (same brand and model) is 50% cheaper from Amazon than to buy at Whitworths. The downside......I have to wait 4 or 5 working days, not much downside huh.
