Kiteboard makers what are you using for plugs/holders that accomodate fins and also the plugs that your straps screw into and where do you get them from?
Last board I made used plastic fin plugs/guides I got from a local board maker but they are about 12mm high so I had to file them down in order to fit em in my 10mm thick board. This time I may make the board thinner at the ends to promote flex & pop so dont want to file again. The strap plugs I also got from the boardmaker were 5 holes in a row of plastic (about 10mm thick)epoxyed into the board but not sure how this will go with time - the holes may strip (can then use bigger self tapper though I suppose) Thinking that something with metal thread would be preferable but what do you use?

I think some shapers use stainless steel "tee-nuts" as threaded inserts to attach bindings and straps to. These need to be cast into the board in conjunction with plastic or fibreglass plates to increase the bearing area so that the inserts dont pull out.
Dont know if there is any insert available that you can use for fins. Would like to know if there is though.

try your local chinook stockist. i convert my surf boards in to tow in boards and there plugs are the best for it.

Jay, the plastic fin holders I got hold of are from our local board maker 'Stonker' but they import them in a box of 1000 from South Africa so I didnt bother presing them for the South Africa contact.
