Is it just me or has there been a major jump in the price of everything?? Mortgage (killer) petrol, food..... just everything really.
Are we expected to have a never ending supply of places to pluck money??
So much for staying at home to look after young children, well that was the plan.... but no longer.
Anyone else been bitten in the bottom?

Roger that. Our fortnightly shopping has gone from $200 to $300 in 3 yrs.
Inflation is low??? The seasonally adjusted election is coming percentage yeah whatever.

I am only 300km from Perth and it is $160 return for fuel. No big deal but to go to things you have to, like a wedding or funeral etc is just ridiculous

Now the GovCo says that our power bills will go up 10% per year for the next 8 years. WTF??? how can they justify that when a huge new coal deposit is about to be mined near my place, so not liek it is getting scarce.......and we sell gas to China at 3c per litre which we could use for OUR needs not theirs.
W^nkers.

Prices for groceries are up, thats for sure. Yesterday in the local busy Woolworths my wife and I were shopping. I needed a new toothbrush. The only ones they had for sale were around $4 or more each.

I thought bugger that. We went over to the bargain shop and I bought a pack of 3 Colgate toothbrushes for $3.

Personally I feel there are some people and companies in Australia making a great deal of money at the expense of everyone else. Too many sectors of our economy are virtually closed to competition. The big boys enjoy the bread and everyone else has to fight for the crumbs.

Yeah yeah very funny fellas
Interest rate rises etc etc etc was happening with the Howard the shmuck government before Rudd the dud was elected.
Getting rid of the Liberals was the only way to make a start in getting rid of the IR laws. Thats why I voted Labor.
From memory any time the inflation topic was brought up with the shmuck he would say something sh1t like "er um we have never had it better" which he really ment was "deal with it".
But the dud always sounds positive and tells us that he is at least trying to do something about keeping inflation down and families happy.
Am I right in saying this?
Hey Rider, I would rather miss out on a meal than miss a windsurf, surf or SUP session in sick waves anyday.

Yeah - no politics on here please - [}:)]

Having said that higher double digit interest rates on the way, and sooner than the original 18-24mths I predicted (well many many others as well) before the election. Maybe it was going to happen anyway Reality now shows Ruddy can't deliver on hardly any of his promises - well not in the way he preached.

The biggest fallout is the extra interest means I won't be buying the three new boards I was going to - just one new and a couple of good secondhand to complete the quiver - and less new sails as well. I wonder how many others the interest rate rise affects in this way.

On home loan - done ages ago. I'm talking about investment loans etc - affects everyone, including business - its how they slow down inflation when wages and costs go out of control . Anything sound familiar with Labor. [}:)] All businesses suffer including the local windsurfing shops.

The the price of toys is coming down then, so they can make a sale?
good'o then, whats the going price on long boards We going to make a dent in distance regardless, over winter and maybe that's the way to do it.
Besides RRD who else in Perth socks long boards like the RRD that Easty was talking up?

Hi Min's - have been looking online at the BIC Jungle - as a SUP, light wind longboard, as well as lightwind wave board - from looking at them all online and the writeups etc the Jungle seems fairly good. Apparently 2nd Wind stocks them - haven't gone in yet to check them out. others include the Kona's, Starboards of course, Mistrals and even the Naish's if you are into an SUP/light wind board. Don't know about dedicated WS longboards at all.

if anyone saw 4corners last monday,if you had suspicion about the banks and financial institutions, most of them were confirmed.

GE credit underwright those "interest free loans" at about 28% after the "no pay period" GE are making so much money they can afford these high risk loans, and in fact hand out credit cards to anyone who has a heart beat, even those that have allready defaulted on a loan given to them by GE. Some people apparantly have multiple GE (harvey Norman, Myers etc etc) cards and are being chased for default while they are being handed another one at another retailer.

Just so you can have a "Plasma"!!

C'mon, two facts;
1. Politics does not belong here
2. Interest rates and the associated problems have nothing to do with the recent elections. They are cyclic and we are all suffering for it.

All that said, I saved $100 last week by buying meat at the butcher and vege at the fruit and vege shop. Dont think I will be back at the supermarket for a while!

Just a small point of interest with these little items, check your power meter wheel speed (if you still have the old style power meter) with the Plasma off, turn the Plasma on, and go check power meter again.

You can work out exactly how much power it draws from you electric meter.
Most meters are 66.6 revs per KWhour or 133.3 revs / KWhr.
(It will be written somewhere on the meter face in small letters.)
So,... to work out the power draw on your new 180 inch Plasma tv;
turn off fridge and airconditioner, and anything else that might cycle on and off during test.
Check power meter and time exactly how long 1 rev of the wheel takes. (say it's 45 seconds)
Therefore power draw with tv off is 3600 / 45 / 66.6 = 1.2KWatts

Turn on 180 inch plasma tv. and repeat meter wheel spin time, say it's now 36 sec.

new power draw is 3600 / 36 / 66.6 = 1.5KW,
Subtract the first from the last,
which means tv draws 1.5 minus 1.2 KW = .3Kw or 300 watts.

Which means if it's on for 5 hours a night it's still only 5 X 300 = 3KWhour.
Which is only 3 X 12.7 cents = 38 cents!
7 days a week = $2.66
Cheap at twice the price. You need a bigger tv !
(don't forget to turn the fridge back on!)

Just so happent he rates were high under Labor in the 1980's, "just happened" to drop under Liberal and just happened to rise substantially again under Labor.
Natural cycle of enormous conincidences.

Then again I am a Liberal voter but I must acknowledge it is Liberal's fault I can't buy a house as a $450K loan is my entire takehome pay. W^nkers.

Ok I promise, no more.

much better get an inexpensive ahmmeter clamp and start clamping on electrical cords and you'd know how many amps and watts are being consumed
