Where has sellers integrity gone?

I've now had it 3 times where I indicated that I'd like to purchase something, arranged to pay & pick up the item on the weekend, or arranged a time that's suitable for the seller, only to have the person come back with 'sorry mate' person came round and bought it last night.

2 times were so clear that times and address's were given. The 3rd time it was arranged we'd go for a windsurf together.

WTF?????

Has anyone else had this happen to them?

I wonder if this is the way that morals are going these days

Yes i have and it is down wright rude!

I hope you expressed your frustration with the sellers involve and explained what it means to make a commitment to someone.

I would hope its not morals in general,

Yep. Have had the same thing happen numerous times. People have no ethics. In a few instances I have met some of these unethical people, karma will be catching up with these people.

On the flip-side, some of us still have some integrity. I've had a few phone calls about a couple of sails I have listed, and I've had to turn most of them down because either their mast was wrong, or the freight would cost more than the sail. I could've made more coin on one item a while back, but spent a few hours chasing up a guy that had made a previous offer to make sure he still wanted it...

I'm happy with my purchases also, sellers have always been pretty good, even if I have broken/torn the items after only a few sessions!

Only happened to me once as I generally only buy new stuff.

However I do sell a lot of different goods. 90% of people never turn up, give some BS and say they still want but in a weeks time or turn up then say they want to swap something even though we have agreed on a price.

So what I do now is let the person know I sell to the first person that gives me the money, I call the other person if they had also arranged to buy to say you should of been quicker and sorry it's gone.

Money talks and that's life.

I had a good experience where I was an interstate buyer, but got in 30 minutes before a local buyer and the guy selling said I had gotten in first, so yep, he'd honour that. I paid the freight, but it was still more hassle for the seller. I've only had good experiences with the SeaBreeze buy and sell

hows this for service
i bought a 6m kite when i was a beginner (had a 9m at the time, was going up to australian kite surfari so needed a small kite as it blows 25-30 knts the whol time).
I saw the add on seabreeze, contacted the seller (who was actually a shop in QLD). paid for it, i said im going away in three wks time, can u put it in the post tomoro. he sed 'yep no worries, it will be there at ur house this wk, its really fast post turnaround. So i didnt get anything in the post after a wk and half. so i rang and explanied the situation. He sed yep it went in the post the other day it will be fine. so two and a half wks later, still nothing in the post. i cracked the sh1ts and rang him again, i said can i have the tracking number. he sed he had lost it. i said "700 hundred dollars is alot of money..." and he interrupted me and sed " actually 700 dollars isnt alot of money for a kite!" to which i replied "well if 700 dollars isnt a lot of money then i am sure you can deposit it back in my account".
This is a shop! wat a way to treat a customer!
if i was a nasty person id name the shop, but if he runs his business like that than i am sure the figures will speak for itself.
luckily, or so i had thought, the kite arrived a day before i was due to go away.
upon rigging (i was a complete newb then) i noticed the line lengths were completely out! so we had to fix tht issue before i got the kite in the air.
Then it split in half within the first hour of use!

so the moral of the story is apparently 700 dollars is not alot of money!

Ive had numerous people say "yeah I definitely want it, hold it for me etc" then come around and "oh its a bit smaller/bigger/greener/shorter than I thought how about $...".
money talks BS walks.....

in fairness not Seabreeze stuff, all purchases have been A1 here.

Like any sale.. Buyer beware

It's amazing the gumption some folks have to advertise stuff as virtually unused. You (finally) hook up a look at the gear and it is shagged to the point of thick salt crusts all over the kite and bladder protruding from worn/torn corners or multiple dings everywhere on a sponsored board described as "virtually new".

Get real.

Have been mucked around a couple of times by sellers and buyers but most folks thru SB have been straight up and no BS. Wouldn't expect as many genuine types in Gumnutz or similar non-kiting classifieds.

Tell em their dreaming.

Several years ago i bought a board from a guy in Sydney and despite repeated calls he would not send it or give me my money back. This went on for 8 weeks. He had every excuse you can imagine, including deaths in the family. He told me he had sent it on about 3 seperate occasions but nothing ever arrived.
So i googled him and after seaching within the results i started to build up some info. I found he had an online business selling some other stuff(t/shirts and gadgets etc). I became a "friend" of his business and got on the mailing list. He stupidly included as CC,s all the addresses of the other people who where his customers. I then sent a request for my board or the money back with supporting email chain to everyone on the list and CC'd him.

Money back the next day.

1 x Asshole

The dozens of other transactions via Gumtree,Ebay, Seabreeze have all been good.

I didn't want to open this up as a bitching session directed at advertisers. I've just noticed that the 1st in 1st served basis is declining and was seeing if anyone else is seeing the same pattern.

I've never had an issue selling anything on this site. Everyone who's purchased has (I hope) been satisfied with the transaction.

Please don't open this up to naming names.

First come first served is my motto. I sell a lotta stuff and got sick of knocking back legit buyers money in hands, because someone said they would be round and never bothered or they look and want time to think about it. Now I simply advise that others are intersted and if they want to come round to be aware that items may be sold. I've had it happen to me and I know it's rough but I am pretty philosophical about it and take it on the chin.

I have bought and sold many times on this site and i think it is an excellent service. The above is my one and only bad experience and should not take away from the quality of the buy and sell section...after all, this was a shop i was dealing with via SB... you would think the shop owner would have more tact than that
