I am a beginner and about to buy my first kite. I have been advised the a 12m kite would be best for me but i am not sure whether to buy Liquidforce or North.
My local surf shop is offering 2010 North Reble for around $1800 brand new and ther 2011 models are around $2300. I can also get Liquidforce Envy 2010 model brand new as runout from supplier for $1399 or a new 2011 model for $1799. Can anyone tell me which is the better kite considering the cost and value for money. i would also like a very safe kite that has full de power in emergency situations.

There's a kiting forum around here somewhere where you'll get more answers for this kind of question.

www.seabreeze.com.au/forums/forum.asp?forum_id=10

and there's also gear reviews that will sum up the finer points.

Most of what you'll get will be biased on the surface, with a little truth in it.
My biased opinion is; the Rebel is great as a "safe" learners kite. The 2010 has a good reputation, as did all it's previous models. It's a 'vanilla' kite if you need it to be.
What little i know about liquid force is old news and not-nice/biased. so i don't need to share that.

Spend more time focussing on skills and judgement and less on worrying about gear.
(but you'll be fine with a rebel)

and if you're just trollin' well done!

khai30: Dude, Kiting is dangerous around dees parts... you need to buy a kite made from silverarrow or you may get abducted by the grays.

I chose this as my first kite.

It is safe, $14.99 at Target and doesn't get in the way of windsurfers in the surf break with long lines dangling across the water and never drags you along the beach

I highly recommend one

Even a child can operate them
