I am sorry, but I hate this time of year because I get cards from people that I either see all the time or have never heard of (acquaintances), all just to wish me a happy Christmas.

You could have called me and told me the same and saved your money and the environment.

But some family members really EXPECT you to give them a card or else!

I would rather get a few xmas cards from people I don't really talk to or like then get non.

You might not think at the time either way about it, but at some point it will give you comfort in a subconscious sort of way.

I stopped sending them a few years ago. It was fun watching how many years it took various people to stop sending them back.

The cards are cheap and fun to send , BUT the postage costs almost make it not worth the effort

I think I will add you to my list just to be able to cross you off my list.

I think that you should take it, give it and revel in it while you can, as trivial it may seem. I have no family, absolutely none, my parents died when I was young and my brother died of bowel cancer last year. Give out cheap cards to people you rarely see, be happy to receive the same in return. Some people aren't as lucky as you. On Christmas Day which I spend alone as I no longer have a family and choose not to impose myself on friends so I avoid going out because I'm so jealous and miss that family involvement so much..maybe spend more time being grateful what you have then whining what trivial thing p's you off. Embrace it while you have it, cause it sucks when you don't.
