So how do you form your opinions Sailhack? From your own biased views?
Yep!

For instance when you buy a windsurf board do you believe the manufacturers write ups about the board or do you read and gather information from every source available and then make an opinion.
Nup, My first board was sold to me with kit on special, my second looked like a good price here on Seabreeze buy'n'sell...otherwise with everything else I buy pre-loved gear that's going cheap here, or on Eeeeeebay.
"I'm just going to make the most of what I have until the 'end is upon me"
Yeah stuff the kids/future generations, animals and all the fish/coral in the ocean etc.etc. Long as i have a good time while i'm here and don't think about these issues it'll all go away.
If you knew me, you wouldn't
ASSUME any of that comment...and you know why you shouldn't assume? (fyi - it makes an
ASS out of
U and
ME) ha-ha, it's still a goodie!

My comment (and you quoted it) was -
"I'm just going to make the most of what I have until the 'end is upon me"What I have is a life based around family, simple pleasures, compassion for others, and living a 'highly' ecologically-sustainable lifestyle...As I've stated before on these forums my work revolves around sustainability, I, as many other building designers do, am thriving for an 'energy-neutral' home design, and all projects I work on are aimed at the highest level of efficiency I can achieve, my hobbies (windsurfing/fishing) revolve around sustainability, and I bring this home with me also...even to the point that in less than 5 weeks my house is getting fitted with a 1.5kw PV solar panel system. I have a rainwater tank (although not required here as our water is provided through an artesian water-table that is actually rising!)
I am by no means perfect Sailhack....But these comments you have made are just plain stupid and selfish.

Reminds me of an ostrich putting its head in the sand.
You're right Stribo....
You are by no means perfect...nor am I!

My comments weren't aimed at you, although you seem to take it a bit personally,
maybe you've got a thing for this guy? (strike that, low blow sorry

). My point being,
IF he's right, and from the industrial revolution until now, we've managed to ruin our planet to the point of extinction within 10 years, then there's no amount of picketting or protesting that will undo these damages, no matter how much money we throw at it!
I think his intentions are good, as are yours...it's just that his logic is a bit screwed up, and yes, I'd loooove to see less polluting, but the fact is that as our population grows, so will the pollution....pure maths! I'm saying that as an individual, I'm responsible for my choices and my family's, and by doing whatever I can, including investing in PV Solar that costs around 10K based not on the fact that in about 10years I can enjoy free power, but moreso to lower my own carbon footprint, and not supporting companies or governments that aren't pro-active in regard to the environment...I'm doing my bit!
Perhaps instead of spreading
unfounded fear-mongering propaganda, you might look at doing your bit?
End rant
