You're supposed to count change back, but no-one does...

So if you gave $50 and you bought something that was $17.25, most just say $32.75 change, rather than 17.25, 5 is .30, 20 is .50 and .50 is 18, $2 is $20, $20 is $40 and $10 is $50.... etc. I can say it but not write it well LOL

Notes on top means the notes will fly away like little expensive butterflies at the slightest draft...

Notes on bottom means the cashier doesn't touch the dirty customer's hands...

Notes on bottom for me

What you count from biggest to smallest, so how can coins go on the bottom?

I've noticed most kids can't count anymore so try to confuse them as little as possible.

I'm with Nebbs- don't want to see $20 fluttering away at the toll booths.

Nah, nah...

If you have coins on the bottom you can slide down fingers, under the notes, into the pocket.

If coins are on top it is kinda hard to fold the notes correctly in one hand, coins sometimes go everywhere, slowing down the whole process.

I'm glad we are covering the big topics today.

I demand it be stricken from the record

If the coins are on top of the notes not only do the notes not fly away, when I cup my hand they make a nice smooth chute for the coins to slide down into the coin pocket of my wallet. Much easier than the lumpy tree roots that my fingers resemble. Notes on the bottom, and all who say otherwise will be moderated.

Coins in note, said notes crunched up around said coins.
Note bundle then hurled at customer from otherside of the counter.

Aussie customer service, you can't beat it.

there's supposed to be more chance of you leaving a tip.
they're hoping you take the notes and leave the coin.

Can I pick your brain.........oh, I see from your avatar you are already doing that.

Please provide a correct example. Then explain how it effects affects my intended meaning.

I appreciate good spelling and grammar, so I would be interested in your opinion.

AND (bad grammar: beginning a sentance with and and in capital letters too) how do you want your change.

Coins on top I say.

Now, stop sidetracking this thread, there are more important issues at stake here.

The thai take away place I go to hands back your change on a plate.
I just take the notes as they are very good there and I usually walk out with a free bag of crackers and a container of rice... cheers Frank

You just wait and check the look on the face of a waiter in city bar or up market place when you take the lot off the plate.
On the very rare time we go out to such a place I figure if you ask for a beer, they pour it, you pay for it then thats their job. Give em $20, get back $16 so take $16.
No bugger tips me for doing my job.
Rant over, well its not a rant, well it could be. I need a holiday

See the wink at the end of my sentence? a joke perhaps
But anyway seeing as though you asked I was referring to the word 'stricken' and saying it should be 'struck'

More importantly - where can you get those old fashioned mints (not the fancy pants blue ones with wrappers) that have that really interesting flavour I can't quite pin down?

Coins on top skate around too much if you only have one hand to deal with em.

Good service always earns a few coins in my book. Since good service is pretty rare in Perf then the coins are safe 60% of the time.

Coins on bottom. Coins on top is a pain in the arse if you put coins in pocket and notes in the wallet, especially when you have shopping in one had with wallet perched on top of it half open.

Also to throw another angle on it ,

how long is it acceptable to stand there and put your change away before you move aside and let the next person in line have there go?

my wallet has a annoyingly small change hole and it takes a bit of shuffling to get all the change in and out of it.

if the cashier gives me my change notes on top then i can grasp the coins with my spare fingers and slip the note away before having to buggerise around with the stupid coin hole.

Any thoughts?

You should be happy to have a small change hole, you don't want to lose it.

The more you buggerise around with the coin hole before sliping the note in the better...you'll get much better value for money in the long run.
