Well normaly it's not much of a problem.
It happens every year but we just put up with it.
But this year there has been a complaint on behalf of the GW Shark Society because the stringy bits are getting stuck in their gills and causing all sorts of problems.
It's really putting them off their food.
If it's not fixed soon they will eat elsewhere.

Or why is that part of the new $6.85 million launch last week to prevent sharks has a $200 000 enclosure being built to test the effectiveness. Oh and guess were its getting built? That's right Cott

Yes,.. but you can have too much of a good thing.
ANd besides, you only need to floss after a meal and they haven't eaten anyone for a few weeks.

I have just seen the paper now and didn't realise when I posted earlier - they closed the beach. For seaweed.
WTF has this world come to?
Will they be raking the sand next to make sure there is nothing in it that could hurt the city folks' footsie wootsies?

FFS we waded thru a LOT more weed at the edge than that, to sail at a number of spots last year, for months on end. Nobody was "held under by it" like the squid in the paper claimed could happen.

1) A lot closer than Perth is to the Antarctic;
2) Cold enough for your nips to be all sharp & pointy....

Strange thing is there is weed everywhere around Perth ATM (e.g. My local Mullaloo) but I headed North on the weekend and drove down the point and the jetty for a look, then had a surf at back beach and was amazed at the almost total lack of seaweed, it's about as clean as I have ever seen it.
