Does anyone else ever sit down somewhere in nature, nothing too remote, perhaps just after a solo sail on the beach, by yourself? Quiet. Does anyone else just sit there and watch? Have you noticed the plethora of life you normally miss? All the different birds, all the different plants, all the different little bugs that crawl or fly by? I find it really, really interesting. Call me weird, I'll take it as a compliment. Then you notice the atmosphere, the clouds building and rising on currents, the sun setting and moon rising, all these things. You really start to feel connected, and quite honestly really content. Something goes away and is replaced by meaning.

I just watched some free-to-air TV. Entertainment is (mostly) a distraction from real life. It's a hard addiction to break, but worth it.

I agree, Ive stopped watching TV unless its Mote GP, F1 ect. I like to take a book to a park sit down under a tree and just read (not today raining) and as you said EP its amazing to see what actually come to check you out! Ive had birds come rite up to me, I could almost touch them.
Yea sometime you just gotta stop and have a good look around TV is a curse!
Off topic, I did watch that thing on the Bernies last night, dunno if they should show that stuff on TV. I think Im getting soft in my old age

You 3 are as weird as each other - and me.

It is amazing what you see if you take time to look. Its good to just zone out and blend into the background and see what you can hear and see (as already said). I had so many great little moments spoilt by the person I was travelling with !!! she just didnt get the whole thing of 'giving it some time'

I too enjoy this. Sometimes during windsurfing I just enjoy dropping the sail in the water or by the shore, away from everyone and just enjoy the environment. I also like walking through the bush or on a farm.

They say green is the most soothing of colours. We were not bred to live in big cities made of concrete and ashphelt. Its great to enjoy the bright lights and hustle of the city too but we need to unwind a bit.

this morning I watched a pod of ten whales mosey on up the coast in their own sweet time while four rozellas took turns to bath themselves in a puddle not more than a few metres away from me. as I was about to get up and leave I noticed an echindna waddling through the undergrowth poking around on a scratch and sniff mission.

wouldn't be dead (or a full time slave) for quids.

Once while sailing on Botany Bay midweek mid Winter, I let the boat lie ahull and kicked back. Dolphins ,stingrays etc.It was lovely.
Within 15 minutes a speedboat came from nowhere and pulled alongside.
'Hello' I said.
'What's the matter?'he said
'Why?' I said
'Well ya not doing anything' he said
'I'm kicking back enjoying the sun' I said
'Ohh' he said and motored off shaking his head.
Moral is" if your gonna do stuff like that, don't do it where
people can see you. It freaks em out!"

Ingrate, go to an african country and tell them they need less doctors, get in trouble in Pakistan and tell me that you don't like lawyers, fly in a plane that's designed by someone who didn't go to university, try living in a country with no government and no media.. you're right on religion though

You can't be in disagreement with anything these days without being told to go to live in Africa.

Anyway, you totally missed the point and I don't think you even understood a single word from that quote. Shame

Nope, totally understood all of your quote. Full of horrible generalisations that suggest we should go back to the dark ages...

The original post was about appreciating nature, yours was about not appreciating civilization.

The man who you're quoting is fairly anti mass media in his own way

Oops, I think you're the one making generalisations there. I said nothing about hating medicine, lawyers, pilots and I suggested nothing. I never said we needed less of any of these services either. Hypocracy works in a funny way.

You're right, the original post was about appreciating nature and so was mine. Modern civilisation and nature don't go hand in hand.

Appreciating civilisation =/= Appreciating nature.

I'm all about getting back to your roots.

p.s. Being anti-mass media is a bad thing? You seem a bit confused.

I wasn't going to bother defending myself over you because it appears you're just one of those idiots that nobody takes seriously, but hey, I had some spare time.

If you don't like my philosophy on life, keep it to yourself. Don't throw a little fit here.

You need to relax. Have you ever tried kitesurfing?

I very much agree.
we are so lucky to live in this world.
pity we're slowly destroying every last bit of it.

Why not test your Taro card man's quote on a few of them?

and I don't care if anyone takes me seriously
