Anyways at the local spot today and there is a large weed bank surrounding the pond. The only safe passage out is a keyhole that is deep enough to run the windsurfing fin thru.
So anyways there is 2 fat loosers fishing in this area They were casting the lines in 2 foot of water the only safe passage out ? I copped a mouth full of abuse off the fisherman. I think they wanted to smash me....
Anyways after 2 1/2 hours later i came back into the bay and the kitesurfers must of received the same abuse... but a credit to the kitesurfer they were all repetitively going past the fisherman deliberatly pissing them off.. weldone... .

Why the **** would you go fishing on a sandbank that is no less than 3 feet deep of water.
I dont get the logic but fisherman suck. What a boring pastime. Cast your line out into 3 foot of weedbank water hoping for the big one... And the abuse windsurfer and kitesurfers as they go past....

homo dude and boyfriend were fishing from the beach no boat...
It wasn't that i have been fishing before but to catch a fish you need to cast you line out in like 4 meters of water at least. Mabe they were on holidays hoping to catch the big one is 3 foot of water.
Fishing sucks why would you bother.. He would of had more luck casting his fishing line onto the main road and hooking cars trucks or even seagulls.
Whole fishing logic beats me hey.. Why bother?

If i was there i would of saved the money on bait and cast my line into the nearest fish and chip shop.!

I just dont understand this person and friend was probably spewing that he spent 20 bucks on bait was casting his line out on a sand bar then abusing windsurfer and kitesurfers that went past to make himself feel better?

actually, some of the best whiting ive speared were in less than 3ft of water right up on the shore line, but its a secret (or was). the whole fishing mentality with all these stupid theories and widgets are a hoax.

Up here the weed gets feral along the beach, flies and midgies breed in it, herring etc come in the feed on the live maggots, etc etc. In saying that I wouldn't go out of my way to catch and eat fish swimming in that muck.

So Busta...you're saying they were there first? Fishing in the only clear spot (prob to avoid snagging their line & as mentioned, close to weed is usually the best spot to fish). Sounds like they had the right of way. As for them giving you sh!t, I agree with you - that's not on.

I'm a keen fisho, and I know that it is frustrating when you find a good spot - nice & quiet with the possibility of catching a few fish & basically de-stressing, then some pleb on a watercraft turns up & acts like the water belongs to them. To be honest though, movement over a fishing area usually doesn't affect the fish & can actiually bring fish on the bite.

I've been on both sides of that argument -

I was enjoying a fish with my dad a few years back at a local quiet beach, catching a few mullet & salmon - then another father/son booger team turned up & made a point of surfing right in front of us & giving poo-eye! To avoid starting an argument in front of my old man, I said "c'mon dad, let's pack up & go home" after the guy's teenage kid caught my line, whilst his old man pointed & laughed (he was very close to me 'fixing' his smile for him).

Also, I've been w/surfing in our local harbour, and taking care not to go too close behind the fishos in their boats...unfortunately one of the other w/surfers didn't have the same respect & constantly 'buzzed' the back of the boats (& enjoyed it)...that made me cringe & to be honest, wasn't an enjoyable sail.

Just to add, I've caught bags of whiting, mulloway, gummy shark & snapper in less than 3 foot of water.

[edit] can someone please translate 'hammer's comment for me?

I though fisherman were nice relaxed people... Obviously the destressing wasnt working for these fellas.
Im not sure why they were fishing there if they went down the beach a hundred metres they could of casted out in the surf or adjacent to that there is a jetty?. Surely they would of caught more.

So to sum it up if someone is fishing don't go near them they get rather angry.

my fav is knowing the fishos have been there for hours with nothing to show for it. they tell you there no fish, wrong tide, moon, wrong undies or whatever, so id jump out and within 10 mins pick off a couple of nice bream. they look so happy when id come in.....

Just thought i would point out that loosers is not a word. The word your looking for is loser, such as "The biggest loser" this is a very common mistake on the breeze and it's time to evolve into a smarter forum, fanks.

Same could be said for your pastime IMO.

I'm going to bite my tongue here but i will say first in best dressed. Get over it.

I saw an old guy a few years back on the Murray River up at Wentworth (NSW) reading a book & fishing, so asked him "have you caught anything?" His answer was "Nah mate, only got a sinker on...the missus & kids don't bother me if they see me fishing, but if they new that I was just here enjoying my book, they'd probably sit here & talk the whole time".

Blah blah blah...
So anyways there is 2 fat loosers fishing in this area blah blah blah

and then..
homo dude and boyfriend blah blah blah

Wow! You can tell that just from a drive past? That's amazing.
How do you do that?
Were they entwined on the beach in a tangled embrace?

I wonder what they might now be posting on a fishing forum?

So anyways there is 1 fat loser sailing in this area .. (look! he can spell "loser")
homo dude out looking for a boyfriend

It's all a matter of perspective really isn't it?
The point here is,.. THEY WERE THERE FIRST so they had at least as much right to be there as anyone else,.. unless it is designated a "sailing only" area.
Is it? (no)

There's over a million people packed in this small peice of coastline now so there will often be times when someone else happens to be on the same piece that you want to use.
It doesn't make them either loosers, or losers, or homo dudes, just people.

^^ But according to Buster's countless years of experience in all forms of fishing you cannot catch fish unless the water is more than 4 meters deep.

As you said yourself Buster, there is only one "keyhole" into the pond. Every time i've gone sailing there i've either stood on a crab, fish or something i don't won't to know about (i think it was a stingray). I've seen dolphins and all kinds of wildlife in that area. If there is only one way in and out maybe thats the perfect fishing spot!?
I do agree the abuse is unescessary but a bit of compromise between both parties and we wouldn't be having this conversation.

Maybe, you could ask the fisho's ( seeing as how they are there first), if you can get thru next time they have to wind in to put fresh bait on their lines.
