Better than their last attempt, but still not realistic enough to believe. From around 0:35 the pilot's body is so jerky his internal organs would probably be squished from the g-force if it were real.

edit: Just saw the thread over on the kiting forum, and links to other discussions on it. Seems I'm not the only one to notice, but some people don't...

Think he would look like the incredible hulk with upper body strength to gain the lift required to support his body and move the wings.

Reminded us of a show that was on ABC last night !

Technical statement

The Pig Wings project was developed in 2000-2001 during a residency in the Tissue Engineering and Organ Fabrication Laboratory in Massachusetts General Hospital, Harvard Medical School.

In the Pig Wings project three sets of wings made out of pig mesenchymal cells (bone marrow stem cells) were grown over/into biodegradable/bioabsorbable polymers (PGA, P4HB). The wings size is 4cm x 2cm x 0.5cm each, and they were grown for approximately nine months inside a rotary cell culture bioreactor. The original wings are coated with gold and kept in jewellery boxes.

One language warning, but if I could fly I would be using that work more frequently too

Definately fake. At 0:17 one of the guys tries to turn on the helmet mounted go-pro by twisting the 'mode' button (the buttons on a go-pro are operated by pressing, not twisting)....
He might have fooled a heap of journos, but even the most sceptical journo is no match for the average seabreezer....

I also cannot see a technical reason why not. As busterwa pointed out, the power-to-weight requirement is more then what a human can achieve, but the Dutch dude says elsewhere that he is using 2 kW motors to augment his arms. The current Internet consensus is that this is a CGI hoax, and if it is, it is a well executed one. Apparently also the dude is not who he claims he is.

This is just such an inefficient way for humans to fly - like building a 4-legged trotting bicycle.

Funny vid, as a hanggliderer it's plain to see there is no billow on the trailing edge from wing loading, it's loose as if suspended.
