It does not happen often but the forecast is wrong today Wednesday 18th July for both the swell direction and the period. See Manly HL waverider buoy for the correct readings. almost 180 degrees (South) and period 10-16 secs.

I checked myself by surfing a spot that faces south. Nice little waves..
Swell was nice at Newcastle this afternoon. picked up to a solid 3 ft in the afternoon and a couple of 4ft sets just before dark. be interesting to see what its like tomorrow
