Tony the mad Monk reckons he is going to repeal the carbon tax Not sure how is will do this, as he (if elected) cant get control of the senate for at least 18 months, and the chances of him ousting those water melons (Greens) is a good as a snow ball in hell
By the time he has any chance of doing any thing, the carbon trading scheme, the one the conservatives came up with, and cant have.... just yet, will be in place. That's the scheme where "friends" of elected, get in on the ground floor and flog paper chips as "carbon credits" and make a fortune out of bugger all.
So every time I see and hear him ummn and arrrn in the media, I get a small chill knowing he is nothing short of a black faced liar, like ninety nine percent of all those in office

a pretty good example of the quality of political journalism in this country at the moment. no wonder the political system has turned into some kinda of absurd popularity contest.

It may do when the rest off Australia and me starts burning their wood fire again to save cash .
We stopped burning wood two years ago , even though it's available and reasonably priced .

Well now , the electric heaters will be boosted with the good old smokey fire !

When should we expect the end of climate change as we know it ? The Carbon Tax is in and global warming is on its way out.

Yes denial is over and the science is agreed that CO2 causes the earth to heat and to cool Much in the same way that a log fire can cause your house to heat or to act like a fridge and cool.

And don't forget fire can also cause three superstructures to fall symmetrically [into the path of most resistance] in near free-fall speed into a very,very convenient little pile.

The only way Tony Abbott could remove the (socialist policy) Carbon Tax hitting businesses for additional tax revenue would be to increase GST (conservative policy).

That way the rich make more money, the worker just pays more for everything. While doing that he can finish the job of removing all laws regarding employment rights to really maximize the profits of his rich mates. Meanwhile, cut health spending, education and everything else the average Aussie relies upon but hey... No national debt right?? Fantastic. That's all that's important right??

The best policy of course would be somewhere in the middle.

If Gillard and co were really concerned about climate change or whatever the latest term is, they'd outlaw the export of coal from Australia, or institute some sort of carbon tax on the exported coal.

Its disgusting that a tax on burning coal is levied on Australian consumers, as increased business taxes will be passed onto consumers, while every hour of the day huge ships set sail with Australian coal.

Mobes my man, I have just moved from Newcastle, which is reputed to have the biggest coal loading terminal in the southern hemisphere, to Gladstone which surely has the second biggest. I have to cross the train line from the Bowen basin to get home. It is almost like there is a continuous train of coal they are so frequent and so long. And they are busy expanding both the Newcastle one and the Gladstone one. Plus they are not the only ones, there are more up the coast!

The logic just escapes me entirely. Unless perhaps it is a surreptitious attempt at discovering just how pliable and gormless they have managed to render the Australian population?

I'd like to see anyone who is convinced the carbon tax is a good way to reduce Australian carbon dioxide emissions to drive to Newcastle or Gladstone and just spend an hour by the train tracks watching train after train carrying thousands of tonnes of coal for export. Then let them think about how Australia can help reduce the emissions of carbon dioxide.

If the buring of coal is such a sin then this industry is a monster.

The Accounting professor at the local Uni told me they have done papers and studied the real effects of the Carbon Tax.

The Academic opinion is that at its current level the cost to business will not make a big enough difference to them to take any real action or make decisions to generate less Carbon.

Reality is it's a tax brought in under the guise of environmentalism as it's the softest way to introduce it. Rely upon peoples environmental conscience.

I don't know about you but i'd prefer the government to just come out and say with an ageing population and reduction in tax revenue additional tax was required. This is the case no matter how it's collected.

Abbott has no idea, no miracles. If you remove the tax from one end he has to find another way to collect it.

The tip is and if you look at the main deciding point at the last election with a hung parliament the billions of dollars unaccounted for in Abbotts budget papers that it was better for them to say it was a mistake than reveal the plan to increase the tax revenue to fill the hole. Odds on it was an increase to GST which would have been a lot less popular than a carbon tax......

me thinks businesses are grossly undertaxed, about time those bludgers started pulling their weight
