mytchook said...Well, I guess it is all but official, but Full Time Casual work is all that seems to be available. This bites!!! I have applied for about 60 jobs now and I have only received 2 replies. I have an interview tomorrow and if that doesn't go well I think I will just stay where I am

I just don't get what people are looking for these days????? It's not like I don't have ALL the qualifications that the prospective employers are asking for???
Any tips? My application letter and CV are awesome. The only thing I can think of is that I am too experienced and they will have to pay me more than a junior. (for these jobs, getting all dressed up is appropriate)
Hey mytchook, I got the same frustration as you. Have been applying for overseas jobs for the past few months, and most places don't even reply you at all. I met someone recently who gave me the advice to call and follow up on my applications. So I did just that and realised that most of the HR either miss your email, or are so busy they never got it.
Calling them up gave someone else in the company the chance to follow up on it, so even if you're turned down, at least you know the reason why. It really helped because I know whether it is because that position's only for locals or I'm too late for the winter season or whatever other reason. Secured me a few extra interviews too. Try it!
