...to camp on a 20 square metre patch of dirt, no running water, no electricity, no shade - per night?

$5
$8
$15
$18
$25 ?????

Do you think over-inflated camping prices are justified by the seasonal aspect of camping? Or do you think that a yearly increase in price is unjustifiable?

I suppose at the end of the day, it's really a small price to pay for an absolute ball-tearingly good time.

It may be my imagination, but camping in national parks etc has been getting progressively more expensive. Along with this increase seems to come an increase in the mess people are leaving behind. Are people starting to litter because they think they have paid for somone else to clean up after them??

Hmm, slow friday causing grumbling... Sorry!

Had some mates stay in the national park - Frasers Beach i think - we couldn't get on the small site, so rented a 4 bed house down the road and on the beach. With 8 people in there it was cheaper than camping! And we had water, electricity, toilets...

We paid $50 per couple per week last year for a 1000 sq m camp site right on the beach in one of the most beautiful places on earth up in the North West coast. Absolutely no facilities whatsoever, but worth every cent, I reckon it was cheap. We stayed for 7 weeks had a world class left to surf, awesome spearfishing and diving and perfect for the kids on the beach.

I know what you are saying though, some Nato parks are ridiculous at $10 per night per head, a bit steep when all they supply is a hole in the ground.

Good winds,

Higher prices for camping in national parks is due to user pays policy. Thats code for taking government funding out and spending money on more important things like politicians study tours to Rome and New York City.
