Well, maybe that's not okay, but what is it with this employment situation? It's almost the same request.

Companies here are complaining that local staff are no good. What are they doing? Training them? No. Sending them to get training? No. They are saying "import more people with the skills we don't need to train for".

WTF is going on? Years ago the government brought in the training guarantee to encourage businesses to train up their staff. Now, people have gone stupid. Not the staff, but the management. They want skilled people that already know what to do, but require no training, and will also work for low rates.

Does anyone really believe that there would be a skills gap if the employers were actually doing their bit and training people?

Back to the title, it's like men here turning around and saying 'nah, the sheilas here are terrible, can you import a lot of single good looking Russian chicks?'

Sigh... I remember the good old days when companies would hire you and let you learn on the job if they thought you were smart enough, or even (god forbid) send you on training courses to upskill you.

Nah, those people will not be good enough. What employers are looking for is people that are highly skilled but also highly subservient. Having a temporary visa helps in regard to the second point as you are always a bit quieter when you need to be sponsored.

There is no skills gap. It's just the crappier employers having trouble getting the staff they think they deserve. It's far easier to say 'we need better people' than it is to look at yourself and ask why is no one staying here for $30 an hour.

Anyways as the only (oi truck driver where you at ??!? ) 1 of the only ukrainian here i believe its my job to explain a few things about eastern block women to you all.

They can and will teach you survival and wilderness skills that would make bear grills run in horror. Yes even the little cute mountain ones which are far less scary then the capitol ones.

I dont think any of them have ever backed down to anything or anyone and you really need to be prepared for this. The men are constantly drunk with knives and quite abusive so the women know to never be weak and they also all have knives and pepper sprays etc etc.

As a western man you are so so so completely unprepared for the world they have lived in.

A friend of mine russian orphan teeny tiny and quite possibly one the more impressive and scary people i have ever met. I wont go into details too much but her mother tried to kill her and her brother so boom thrown into orphanage and from there the kids were ****d with and sold for terrible **** and due to the cold when one the kids would die from this sort of thing theyd just toss the body into the yard and with all the snow and ice etc they got to watch theyre friends body hardly decay at all for months and months while thinking if only they had of been the one taken that night then theyre friend might still be inside.

This is such a tiny little partial bit of a much scarier and just horrific existance that is many peoples lives over there. Not just russia or ukraine but bulgaria moldova etc etc etc

Trust me when i say this. If you think importing these sexy ladys is going to benefit you in some way then for sure go for it but you better learn to open the doors for them and treat them better then anyone you have ever seen be treated or youll find yourself juiceing lemons for her only to have her put the juice in a windex bottle and to use it on you as she peels your skin off *spsshh spshhh* and they know how to make sure to not go too deep so it hurts more.

Anyways its a nice thought ive spent most my life chaseing these women around the world but i feel theyre major employer would be more along the lines of defense or spying (dated a comercial spy for ahwhile) not the housewifey beuticians you might be thinking

I think I will be okay. I have this built-in repellent where girls think 'this guy thinks too much, I can't get away with much". Well, at least that's what I am telling myself it is. It could be just my personality, but whatever works works.

But there must be guys that get sucked in with a hot chick and put up with a lot before it is too late. Can't blame them, but I would proceed with caution.

This was meant to be an analogy for why Aussie employers are cheaping out and importing people because its easy for them and they don't need to put in any effort.

But it was interesting reading your point of view anyway. I have had the luxury of meeting intelligent educated people of the type you talk about, but even then it sounds like you need to be wary of the different life they grow up in.

I don't know what's involved in recruiting someone from another country but I am pretty sure it would require a lot more effort and expense than employing a local and giving them on the job training .

I assume when you say on job training that normally involves entry level positions, for example you don't apply for a commercial pilot position without qualifications and hope for on the job training.

So, 'you don't know' but your are also 'pretty sure'? There are companies setup purely to vet overseas applicants certifications, and guide them through the process of getting a job here. I am not sure the company that sponsors them has to do much at all, but to be fair that's like your 'pretty sure' comment.

I have seen it in IT where companies supposedly cannot find the skills they need, and recruit overseas applicants only. What do you know, they are also paying less than the market rate. This has been happening in IT for 2 decades now, and what do you know, these same companies are saying they now cannot get the aptitude they are looking for.

I had a friend from Ireland where they were paying her well below the market rate and once she got her PR, suddenly they had to pay her a lot more to stop her leaving.

It is all bull****. Poor managers that cannot get staff to work for them and they then claim that Australians are just not good enough. Hence the analogy I was trying to build. Oh look, I have to be nice to women here, how about instead you just send me some where I have to do very little.
