You need a nice fast powered boat.
You need a nice wakeboard with boot bindings.
You need a ski rope
You need flat water
You need me to help launch the boat and guide you through the learning process.

Hey Hardman,

How about B.A.S.E. jumping ?
You don't need wind and not much equipment.(Just a parachute I guess)

Now, what's tall enough around your neck of the woods for you to leap off ??

Season's Greetings

Heya Hardy!
In the pursuit for something to keep me out of trouble when there is nil wind I spent a heap of time on website wake.com.au . It has a heap of fanatical (and some purist) wake dudes that will be more than happy to tell you what they think. Don't ask the type of questionthat has been asked a hundred times before "What boat should I get?" as there will usually be a post not too far back that has had a heap of replies...
Board and bindings $400 - $1500+++
Boat - V8 mid or rear mount (no outboards as you can't get them to stop planing). Go for a Ford motor, no reason other then Holdens just suck!!!!
You need the boat to be real heavy to set a thick wake. New models can be as expensive as $60-70,000 which have pumps to take on and dump water quickly for ballast. They have heaters & trip computers and heaps of seating/storage.
I was looking at a 1993 skicraft for $12,000. (We couldn't afford it, but regretted not buying it anyway!) Rather than ballast, go for a really big plastic esky, full of stubbies instead of cans, as they're heavier!
Ski-poles - TOWERS are the go, putting your rope point up high. You can stick some huge speaker boxes to them as the bikini babes will need something to bop along to while you're nailing front flips!!!
We are blessed in WA to have heaps of freshwater lakes and dams, all being really cool camping spots. We have camped at Lake Poorarecup (NE of Mt Barker) a few times now with the runabout and ski biscuit. Miles from anywhere!!!
Go for it Hardy!!!!!
Seats.

Thanx Kecks,

The expense puts it out of my $ range, but certainly something I'm interested in. Might just do scurfing behind my tinny, then when can afford maybe 3-5 years time, get a multi-purpose boat fishing/waking!

Comrade Hardie
You must be careful with skurfing behind tinny, yes ?
My comrade and I had a few days skurfing behind his tinnie boat, much fun but much damage to board and boat
You must have big motor for pulling skurfer onto plane, standard motor and big Russian equal stripped gear on outboard
Comrade not happy, no boat for skurfing, no boat for fishing, no boat for checking of the craypots
New gear for outboard leg very big expense, you please check this ok ?

Small boat much better for fishing and checking of the craypots

Fishing is good when wind and waves no come.
You can try sport fishing, small line big fish equal big fight and big name in lights for landing 400kilo shark with 24 pound breaking strain line
Shark also very good for salting

You still want me come find your missing craypot for checking with aqualung
I arrive Perth Wednesday night... I see there is wind coming too so I can teach you push loop

I was stuffing around saturday morning scurfing behind out boat with a surfboard. Came off and thought "this will be a soft landing", landed head first into the water, knee hit my nose and managed to break it pretty bad, blood pissing everwhere but thankfuly not in that much pain. Well today i have to go to hospital to get it straight again, and tomorrow we fly to singapore at 8am. Pretty bummed really coz i thought it was a very soft landing when compared to over rotated pushies, forwards etc

Anywho we have a 19ft southwind with a 70HP on the back and you can wakeboard, biscuit etc fine off it

Get a kite.

Wakeboarding is REALLY hard on the knees.

You can get a 2 year old 12m kite for $500.

Get a ~160cm twin tip board, dozens around from next to nothing as the first thing you do once you can kite properly is buy a smaller board.

Pay for 5 lessons = $500. Don't teach yourself or use a mate.

Next year buy a Cabrinha 16m Crossbow (or similar design).

You will never dread a 15kt forecast again.
I windsurf 80% and kite 20%

Looking for no-wind options!!

have had kite lessons, at this stage found it too dangerous, as I'm accident prone, and with the recent tragic death, just a timely reminder for me not to take up more dangerous activities. However, am waiting for kiting to get less dangerous, and will give it a go again in the future.
