Sort of off topic now but, with the newest kites the danger level has dropped to a small fraction of what is was a few years years ago. We're talking Total De-power, at will.

how's this for an alternative to wakeboarding?

find a looonnnggg stretch of beach, say San Remo through to Bircher Point...

attach a looonnnggg rope with a handle to a 4WD

get ur missus to drive close to the edge of the water towing your good self on a skim board

Even better, why not try skateboarding behind a car...? No wind required, similar to wakeboarding but much cheaper...imagine the adrenaline rush as you went through traffic lights
