Hi all new here I have kayak I use for fishing now I like to make my own sails out of ripstop fabric where can I buy the stuff from
Find a local kiteshop and ask about any unrepairable or old kites available, the fabric is still usually fairly good. The bigger kites are better as they have bigger panels between the struts.

Hi did it work ok I want to try before I buy one so if I do like the sailing then I haven't lost big dollars
Sorry, I didn't use it for sailing, it was to fix a hiking tent.
You could also try looking in the "Buy & Sell" section on this website....you might find an old sail you could buy for almost nothing that you could butcher.
There are a few small businesses that make them. I bought mine from the kite shop at the S end of Coogee, and was used on many days the last time I crossed Bass Strait by sea-kayak. This set-up, with an up-haul that is redirected from the bow, and outhauls for mast rigidity... may not suit your needs if you have a rod and tackle in front of you.
Anyway, another is Flat Earth Kayak Sails, made in the Gippsland region, but do distribute world-wide.http://www.flatearthkayaksails.com/sails/the-new-code-zero-in-action/
for a cheap way to try it out google polytarp sails. they won't last so long but great for prototypes
