Hey,

My name is Anders(from Denmark) and I am in a desperate need for a lift from Lancelin to Geraldton tomorrow on the 4th december. If somebody has a spare seat I would be a very happy man.

My contact number is 04 66 020 870

I am of course willing to pay for the transport. I need to be at the Geraldton Wharf late afternoon by the latest, but if you are driving up early I will be ready.

Cheers,
Anders

Why don't you post it on your backpacker forums that we are not here for your convenience and most of us would rather not have anything to do with you.

Who are you speaking for Cisco? Not all of us have chips on our shoulders.

I thought it was a reasonable request for a lift.

Your predecessors have burnt us and therefore your bridges.

Backpackers are a chancre on society and you Danes are the worst of them. You always invent some excuse why you should get your money back such as "It rained." or "I got sunburnt." or "I didn't like the strawberries and cream."

Piss off and leave our forums alone.

wtf dude? precious much?

hey anders just so you know our fellow Queenslanders brothers don't speak for us west aussies. Hope you got your lift bro

Take a panadol cisco if i was going up id give him a lift why not apart from a truck driving forum i dont see anyone else going that way its a fair call.
Often at these remote location there is comunity billboards and if you look at them there is heaps of notes up of people travelling lifts wanted It can turn into a cheap trip if you are driving far...

CISCO your on the far side of the country and obviously got a big chip on the shoulder. I know a few Danes and other Scandos as well and they are no better or worse than any others.
I do know that Scandinanvia is very hospitable with all people friendly helpful and willing to speak english to accomodate.
I'll gaurantee that you (like me) was not able to learn the language in every country youve been to. French I could understand your attitude of course though. But Scandos are definitely NOT french.

This guy seems to be heading up for the Abrolhos trip, and DOESNT need your permission to ask on here. Im pretty sure most people here would be happy to have him posting here.

Anders I hope you got a lift and hope you have a great trip to the islands. Its a magic place unspoilt like the GBR by excess tourism etc.

During these travels I gave every person I met, "common courtesy, politeness and respect"

Hmmm,.. Somehow there seems to be a a serious disconnect between this statement and the general tone of your two previous posts. I am hard pressed to find any "common courtesy, politeness and respect" .
Did I miss some fine print somewhere?

Perhaps you should have included the common exclusions clause which says something like "Conditions apply" .
Or perhaps an asterisk * maybe, and then down the bottom, add " * does not apply to Danes, French, Poms, Dutch, Germans, etc. etc. "
What the heck. Just say " * Only applies to people I like."

well from one qld'ers perspective i would say that the LARGE majority would say it's uninformed, rude and an embarasment to hammer someone you don't know.

Ezzy .......the back packers on the east coast have got some attitude thats for sure,, call it at times a (Night club, pack attitude)....what ever........

To be a West Coast back packer you need a far more down to earth attitude, to get around, doing the yards by your self or in **** house wicked vans.2 Litres of water 1000s kmsk 3 cylinders often toed from town to town or you end up on a grayhound tour group never mixing with da local motion.

Anders was a top bloke whom got of his ass and made an adventure happen and trusted the good old west coast Aussie attitude, of may helping him to get to Geraldton.

I picked him up in GERO with a small back pack friday 8pm with out any windurfing ,toys or kit

Only when asked he talked up being able to slaying big dragons in his sleep , he was exited to be on an adventure to the west coast continental shelf, with out any toys ........COOL DUDE

no Airlie --- beach boating here.. (opps slip of the tounge) .....( ive boated there and loved it........ if you hate swell). ouch

Given the oppertunity...... he jumped of the rescue boat to help sail a 6.5m twisting inside out rigg back to the boat.

Then

Jumped on my gear in the worst conditions of the day and worked up wind to the fire breathing 1.5 to 2m dragons with a tail of over 1 km and slayed, gouges into it .

He and mates Couldnt wipe the smile of there dials even with some very early visiable chunks and splatterings down the shirts. to laugh at for the rest of the trip.

Dont judge books by da covers....... ok some......penthouse , playboy

surely Cisco if "every dane" did what you say, why didnt you just not take them out?
That would have been the smart thing to do.

around 10 years ago, stopped on albany hwy at night to give these 2 hitch hikers a lift into the city.

at least i thought it was only 2.

when the 2nd one had got in the back seat i started to drive off.

the 3rd one, who i had not noticed had one foot in my backdoor and the other one on the pavement.

i heard a few loud screams, i stopped the car and with a red face said very sorry, he was ok.

There were a few others I would rather not have taken out too but I was bascily contracted to the booking office and had to take whatever they sent.

In Cairns and Airlie Beach it is the backpacker market which dominates and the margins are very skinny.

Also the booking offices demanded and got outrageous commissions such as 40% of the gross so I guess my beef should be with them and not the punters they sent.

I don't think Cairns or Airlie ever recovered from the airline pilots strike years ago. It changed the Barrier Reef Tourism market from "high quality with healthy margins" to "low quality with barely survival margins".

There were 5 star resorts that were overnight turned into backpacker lodges and just walking around the marinas you can see that the boats are not being properly maintained.

Some of the operators migrated to Broome and other W.A. locations when tourism took off over there. Hopefully they took the lessons learned with them and have high quality operations and a pricing structure that delivers a healthy profit margin.

The lowering of standards makes the game very dangerous as exampled by not only diving deaths but snorkelling too.

The idea of totally inexperienced people doing a quick 4-5 day diving course which nobody fails, to get an open water diving ticket purely for the sake of not having to the price of a "resort dive" is pure lunacy.

The basic Navy dive course takes at least 6 weeks and has a drop out rate.

For anybody contemplating going into a charter boat operation I recommend they take off the rose coloured glasses and have a very serious look at all that is involved and in particular the business plan before forking any money out. Cheers Cisco
