Hi guys,
I just got off the phone with a friend of mine. He is destroyed physically and psychologically.
He works for a very famous bar in Sydney. (very busy bar also). He's been there for over 3 years now. He came in Australia on a student visa. Started working there. After 2 years, they've agreed to sponsor him. After getting his working visa, his manager started being a super dick. (the manager is Lebanese{not that it matters, just for the record}). Why? Because:
1. He is making him work impossible hours (more than what's stipulated in the contract);
2. Doesn't give him the benefits stated in his contract;
3. Threatens him that if he doesn't like, GO HOME!
4. Works his ass off, always assigning him the hardest jobs that nobody wants to do, just because he is sponsored and can't say anything.
5. After getting sponsored, they decreased his pay, and never increased it.
He is very afraid of saying anything, because apparently the guy has a lot of power and is scared of being sent home.
Anyone knows if he can do anything about it?!
Just speaking about this case, everyone who's a resident or citizen in this country should thank GOD everyday for being in this awesome land. People risk their, health, life, family and everything they have to be here.
Love Australia!

I think the manager needs a heads up. A proper one...
Your mate should record everything with hidden cam and work his arse off but ensure all those situations come up again. Threats to send him home etc would be gold if on tape.
Then go to the owners with the evidence and tell them to sack the manager and promote the victim....... or else he will go to immigration and destroy the businesses' chance of ever hosting 457's or sponsoring again, and he will go to fair work australia / whatever NSW has, and the media.
If I owned a business and an employee came to me with that - the manager would be toast.

^ not if the person recording is a party to the conversation
So you can't record two of your mates talking but you can record something you are participating in.
