big news-Sinosteel have stopped all work at their Weld Range minesite, saying delays with the port are costing too much. Sino are a foundation member in the OPR game.
Great news Hopefully no massive port that takes Capes class ships. instead keeping a great bit of coast that has a few gems there. The iron they are looking at through the mid west comes from areas known as banded iron formations (BIF), these ranges host a wide range of flora and fauna found no where else in the world. No port, no mining, I'm all for it.
its not all over yet-I wouldnt mind betting its a chinese bluff to wrest more control and leverage from the Australian side. No Chinese company is autonomous from their government.
