If you have kids just put up with it and get a younger sportier version to take your mind off of how stuffed you are, if no kids give her the keys to the house and walk out if it's so bad that you have to winge about your wife on a water sports forum(no offence by the way).
Good Luck mate.

A younger sportier version? What an advice!

I thought it was "an" fantastic advice or would you perfer the sh!t in the bedside table then?

LOL ... Fair enough ... after all, All is fair in love and war ... no double standards here ... I will take your advice if I needed to ...

She said "I feel totaly worn out"
I said "bit like an old car darlin"
she said "your not going to trade me in are you"
I said "no babe, you know I like old cars, and your still reliable and go pretty good.------- can I get a little sports car to drive on weekends?'
she said "as long as it doesn"t cost anything or take up any room in the shed"

Yeah, my mates got a nice big shed to, and he got himsrlf a hot little sports car. Beautiful low slung body with nice wheels and big headlights. He was so mesmerised with its novelty and performance that he neglected his old runaround he'd had for years, and it sat out the back and without any maintenance would'nt even start. eventually a bloke walking past picked it up for a song. He was stoked as it took bugger all to get it going, drove nicely went anywhere and was totally reliable.
My friend meanwhile was starting to realise the shortcomings of the sportscar. It was super expensive to maintain, couldn't carry a decent load and wouldn't go on dirt roads. Another problem that developed was every time he wasn't looking someone else was trying to drive it. eventually he went to his parking spot and it wasn't there. one of his so called mates was driving it without even telling him.
Now my poor freind hasn't got a car at all. He told me he hasn't walked so much since he was a teenager. He's cruising all the caryards but just can't find anything even half as good as the one he had to start with. The bloke who ended up with it would'nt dream of selling it back. He's keeping it fully pollished up and got some nice accessorys for it. Its in better nick now than its been for years and can get to all the surf breaks
Just to add insult to injury, my mate has to move out of his house because the man wants to keep his car in the shed its used to being in. that little sportscar has cost him everything.
There's a moral to this sad story. Me, I love old cars, especially the one I got. These new models, they're far to complicated and cost a fortune to keep on the road. They might be cheaper on petrol but you'll pay somewhere else and they dont seem to last very long.

What do you do though if your'e old model hasnt had any maintance for years & its just rusting away & now you would have to give it a coat of paint & a new set of tyres just to get the wreckers to take it away. I suppose its still got sentimental value i mean i can still look & remeber all the good drives i had before

Hmm. I see your point. I geuss there are many reasons why a vehicle can become surplus to requirements. I've always believed good solid ongoing maintenance could potentialy keep a vehicle on the road for as long as you can keep your licence, however if it has truely become an absolute wreck, you need to know when to cut your losses. Sure, a lot of bog and a lick of paint here or there can keep it looking reasonably presentable, but if performance requirements are no longer being met or you have found its sheer size is to great to handle and it has become a horendous fuel guzler, your probably better off letting ot go. You dont need to doll it up to much, there are many wreckers around and there not fussy. Some of them use a tool called beer, which enables them to lower their standard significanlly. I wouldn't advice hanging on to it for sentimental reasons if its that bad, you dont want it laying around when you bring your new car home.

Lube; frequent lubing does the trick. Full oil and filter change every 6k and while you're down there spray some lithium grease.

I have just landed a job and the house is an absolute pig sty. How good is she at getting things scmick? If she comes with a good recommendation I could take her for a couple of weeks but you would have to have her back unless someone else wants her.

There may be a bit of a market here. Can we have a picture? And does she talk much?

Mistresses don't nag. Not that I would know, but people tell me.

Back to the wife: if she nags for a fish tank, you can multiply by 10,000 the pain if ever you get to court for a divorce. Esp. once she get pumped up by the lawyers and her divorced female friends.

At least you could bring down the level of service a bit. For the initial job, I would have said: "OK, but I got only an hour, coz' I'd planned to fix this-that in the garage, is that OK honey?" You have to set expectations man. Start now, go slow.

And above all, good luck.

Beeh having problems with my car lately to. Had it for a while now, but it is constantly breaking down all the time, in the last 8 years i have spent so much time under the hood trying to fix it, only for it to break down again. Well a few weeks ago i left the handbrake off( it was broken too), and it rolled off down the hill. This has happened before and normally i chase after it, but this time i just stood there and thought....." F*%^ it."
So i am looking at test driving a few new models soon, already have my eye on a few. I miss the old boonga, but ah hell, it would have just kept braking down over and over again anyway. The thing needs a new engine, wheels, paint,,,, i would be better off on a pushy.
