I got married outdoors in Perth in March and it was still too windy then. Choosing between December and January won't make a difference. The ceremony and reception were in well sheltered areas though, so it was ok, that's what you have to get right. I did take everyone onto the beach briefly for photos and still haven't heard the end of it. The girls never did manage to get their hairdos quite right again after that.

Little Creatures is pretty exposed, though if you use that outdoor pavilion thingy they've put up in the last couple of years it might provide some protection. The yacht club has a bit more natural protection in the lee of Mosman Park, but if you're more outdoors there than the Creatures pavilion you might get more wind anyway.

The sun will definatly be out it will be warmish but if in th arvo will be windy. But little creatures is nice. Good beer good food sunny but there is always wind. Google earth it there is some wind protection.

Ok so December is no windier than Jan or Feb. My family are telling me there are sailing races and wind surfing competitions are often in December as it's the windiest time of year. I guess they could happen year round not just December.

Would it be a bad decision to have the ceremony on Monument Hill in Freo or Heathcote Reserve in Applecross?

Another option was The White Elephant in Gnarabup but everyone said I was crazy, we would be blown away as it's right on the beach.

It's freezing and there is still snow on the ground where I live. I wish I could take windsurfing lessons :)

You don't live in Vancouver then...

Was at a wedding at the White Elephant 2 weekends ago. There was good wind and plenty of windsurfers on the water, but the venue and beach were well sheltered. It's a great spot.

If you want best view in Perth look at that one, can provide for hot, cold, windy, rainy have full bar and catering, they have the ceremony outside with ocean view on a grassed area, go to the beach (2min walk) for pics and reception inside with full bar facility!

Whilst Dec and Jan is windy and that's why we all love it, it is not wndy every day (pity).
You will get one of 3 options
- stong easerly in the morning which will fade out but still be what most people call strong (and we dont) and it could be not really wedding weather. That will make it hot like 35 - 40deg but at least with the breeze it will be OK
- not much wind in the morning but a screaming southerly seabreeze at midday onwards. We hope. That makes it cool like 25-30deg
- almost zero wind and 40 - 45deg.

In Dec the probability of those 3 would be say 40% - 40% and 20% respectively.

Your best option is Freshie Bay yacht club. In a screaming easterly it is sheltered enough - you can do outside stuff like pics etc on the lee side of the building. In a seabreeze even more so. If you get no wind and 45deg at least there is plenty of trees. Around Little Creatures has no shade so everyone will hide inside if it is hot, while u suffer thru pics in the sun.
Monument hill has NONE of those shelter options and I would only plany anything there for abotu 3 months of the year, the other 9 it would be sh!t.
