Went for a swim in an Amazonian rio (swimming with sharks piranhas) and one of the chicks came out and had blurred vision in one eye! We had a look and found she had a leech in the eye I nearly passed out!

WARNING: Stop reading the following post if you are grossed out by surgical procedures!!

i had corneal graft done 15 years ago... i can't remember why, but it had to be done under heavy version of local anesthetic... they placed two clamps to keep the eye lids permanently open. I still remember to this day watching (very blury though) a round cutter device placed in my eye and turning around for a while, then later it all got black... later watched the video of it, and you can see the surgeon cutting the cornea out with tiny scisors... then taking it off, and placing new one, and then threading 24 stiches around... pretty cool stuff

I had a steel splinter in my eye once as a kid. To get it out they added some anesthetic and scraped it out with I think a scalpel.

It was sort of cool watching someone scrape your eyeball but not being able to feel it.

Much better than a worm breaking out of your eyeball

Had the same thing happen to me. It was Fred Hollows who did the corneal scrape.

There was one guy in the ward who was a railway fettler who had a sliver of ironbark timber that flew off the work when he was banging in a piton and speared his eye. It had been in his eye for ten years before it was taken out.
