Twice now I have booked a regional flight with Qantas where the online icon flashed telling me there was less than 2 seats available and also had to pay over $100 than the normal price....... when I entered the plane took my seat (dash 8) to my surprise only 10 other passengers bordered! Is this false advertising or what?

or seats are purchased as a flexi-ticket allowing no cost changes to flights, ie get to the airport a bit too early and able to change to the first flight available to the destination paid for.................think it only works for day of intended travel - well thats how I've only used it, pretty sure it doesn't matter what level of FF you are too as I've done it a bronze & as a gold member.

There can be may reasons why a flight is operated with limited seats available it looks odd i know but is normally due to operational reasons you have to realise your flight is only one sector in the aircraft's total flight plan so they may be carrying more fuel and or freight. Thus limiting the passenger load The dash 8 doesn't have great legs when it's fully loaded at the best of times

I don't see it's fair that the passenger pays if the airline can't fill the seats.....and for them to say "hurry fewer than 2 seats left" and bumping the price up 2 weeks before a flight is just wrong.

Thing is they work out the minmum number of seats to make a flight feasable that might be say 15 seats or so. At that point it doesn't run at a loss. They still need to cover airport landing fees and a million other fees so with fewer bums on seats the end ticket price go's up . I .agree it's not fair but it's what needs to happen to keep less popular sectors viable . A good example is say cairns to weipa in a dash 8 lower demand and needing to carry enough fuel to get there and back means less seats and higher ticket price

Well if they kept the flight price down maybe they will fill the plane....... It actually puts you of booking that flight when it's flashing 3 seats left.....I only book them if I really have too. It's not our fault they have to many flights and not enough bookings ......that's bad management take it out of his/her salary!
