I am in a slight dilemma.
I AM going to quit my current job (I have decided). But it's a matter of when and how.
I have worked at the joint for a year and a half now and hate it with a passion. I dread the days that I'm meant to be working. I'm fed up of the bosses (man I hope they aren't reading this

) , I am sick to death of being burnt every night, and our new uniform is some plastic shirt thing that melts when it gets hot

(WTF, ITS A XXXX and XXXX SHOP (don't want to say type of shop, bosses reading etc), THERE IS HOT OIL EVERYWHERE, only got these shirts because they were cheaper).
As you see I don't like it. But, I don't have a replacement job. I am training to become a pool lifeguard and am completing the final course this weekend. So I should be sorted with that job fairly soon.
Now this is where the problem begins. After working there a year and a half, I know what is going on at work quite well. They trusted me with shop keys and alarm code, so I could open up when they are away (I felt special, especially at 16). They leave me and another guy in charge (who's quitting also) so they can have a night off.
They are tight for good staff, they sacked all the other people who were capable. Lots of other people are planning on leaving, and I would feel bad leaving them with limited staff. Sure they can get new staff, but they will have no other people that are fairly experienced at working there. Workers rarely stay for over half a year, (there are only two of us that have at the moment) and we are both quitting.
The other night they asked if I would stay through my whole uni course (4 years) , I told them probably not, and they freaked out.
I am working in about 2.5 hrs, I really want to tell them I am leaving them ( I will also tell them I will stay for 3 weeks so they can find more staff) . But they are the type of people that will get angry at me, and will likely give a crap reference etc.
Sorry for going on a bit of a rant. But it comes down to this.
How do I tell them, so I don't get them angry?
And, should I tell them tonight? Or should I wait until I definitely have another job. If I tell them tonight I will have 3 weeks to find a new one if the lifeguard thing doesn't go to plan. Which shouldn't be too hard.
Thanks in advance.
Ps-Mate says he'll give me 10 bucks if I tell them I am leaving tonight, he "doesn't think I've got the balls to do it".
Pps, we have staff party coming up-should I stay to get tonnes of free food
and drinks
