Just like to mention that I sailed SB for the first time on Sat and was impressed with the friendliness and helpfulness of the people there. Thanks John for your dry land instructions on water starts - most helpful. Most impressed too with the location and wind. Although I found myself sailing at the edge of my abilities (intermediate) I always felt safe with the onshore wind and the sandbar and beach at either end.

Funny, I saw you practising there on the lawn in what I remember was 20+ kn and thought if you let go of the sail it might just miss the cars and go straight into the house on the other side of the road .

PS: Yep, love the spot. It's worth the 45 min drive. Especially - as a "beginner" that wouldn't be happy to go out straight into the ocean - the fresh salty blue water, not the disgusting brown soup in the river. (I often end up with a sore throat after windsurfing at Matilda Bay )

funny enough, John lost his grip on the rig accidentally and she sailed a good 15m in the air towards the road but fortunately pulled up short.... phew
