www.watoday.com.au/lifestyle/supersized-debate-on-how-much-soft-drink-is-too-much-20120914-25wkj.html

Any sugary drinks over approx 473ml have been classified as 'super sized' and will be banned from sale in most places.

What the hell. Laws like this bug me the most, I don't care if a fat person can't control themselves. If I want a litre of cola, I want my god dam litre of cola. Not some childrens serve.

But seriously, I think it is unfair on the population that has self control. Our awesome deep fried chips at work got canned so fat people can eat the 'healthy' oven baked cardboard crap which need about a years intake of salt on top to taste good.

I'd be more in favour of some BMI scales at the counter. Then have junk food with a price loading depending on a persons BMI. Anything they pay that is more than a normal what used to be a normal sized person, can go into health care.

I know it isn't a law here, yet...

2 litres and a 750ml bottle of bourbon is the perfect size - not super size!

It'll go the way sudafed did - first they'll limit how much you can buy at one time, then they'll start taking your name, then there'll be a national database regulating supply and next thing you know no-one will be able to make speed in their backyard anymore.

.....wait, where was I?

Yes that could work, but it would no doubt be more expensive.

They don't go far enough I say. It's not just obesity at issue. Soft drinks just two or three times a week can double your chance of pancreatic cancer. Pancreatic cancer has a 5% survival rate.

hmmm, bottled water is maybe not so silly.

If someone wants to 'indulge' and have a 600ml coke once a month with a big mac, they now can't. Nobody is forcing anybody to drink a ton of the stuff, and doing so is silly. But in moderation it probably wouldn't hurt more than the zillion other things that 'cause' cancer.
