Just going down the rabbit hole of buying a split system reverse cycle aircon. After others experiences, are there any brands out there worth keeping away from and others worth looking into. Chasing a fairly big system of 8kw+.

Hoping to streamline this process and make it as painless an install and research project as possible.

Cheers for any advice.

From memory the Fridgie said stay away from Panasonic. I think we went with Fujitsu based on price.

Fridgie mate says there are only two choices - Daikin and Daikin.

Toshiba
Daikin
Mitsubishi
Fujitsu

Running a Fujitsu at home. Only used for those summer crackers. Gets turned on every quarter to lube the seals. Hasn't missed a beat in the 10+ years that's been installed.

After trawling product reviews, I decided on a Mitsubishi MSZAP25VG-KIT (consisting of indoor and outdoor unit) to A/C a bedroom. I brought it at Harvey Norman during an end of month clearance sale for $999, and had it fitted by a sparky. All up $1300. It was installed November 2020, and has never missed a beat. The sparkie did a quality job of the install.

PS/ Panasonic were looking pretty good by the reviews. This was my 2nd choice. I suppose it depends on the era. Mitsubishi may release a **** model one day, and then the brand will get bagged.

You may be right, but in my experience, Panasonic uses rubbish grade plastics and any moving parts are a fail waiting to happen.

Thats a great price for the install ,most here in WA would charge at least double for a small unit back to back install

I've got 3 split pani's , 2(3.5/8kw) 14 years old and 1 2.5kw 1 year old .
i live 250m from the beach and the old ones still going strong ,hope the new 1 holds up

I have four Fujitsu splits 10+ years old and going strong - they get a good run in Summer, and occasional use in Winter. Also still have a big through the wall cooling only 'rattler' that is now 25+ yo in the Games Room that is still going strong - also Fujitsu.

I agree got one of those - its odd but there is also a Mitsubishi which is not the same as the Mitsubishi Heavy Industries ones (or so I read on reviews)
