Quite apt I think

Well, well, well Mr Ghulam Ahmed Bilour Railways minister of Pakistan, a country that spends millions of dollars on a nuclear weapons program yet relies on Foreign Aid to feed it's people, mainly from the USA and other western nations. You are offering a reward and inciting and inviting Al Ouida and the Taliban to commit terrorist acts upon your benefactors................Coming soon to a building near you.

If I hated Muslims their reaction would only encourage me to make more films... $100 green screen movie... makes poor disenfranchised Muslims riot, strike and kill each other.

They've been bombing them for 9 years already, and the US needs Pakistan just as much as Pakistan needs the US.

Seriously I am no fan of US foreign policy but 'Why does the US need Pakistan'?

They only need them while they in Afghanistan. All the east and south east border of Afghanistan is with Pakistan. To ship equipment in and out of Afghanistan they need to do it through Pakistan. All other routes are impossible or very expensive and unlikely. e.g. the border on the west is into Iran and I don't think they would be in the mood to assist America.
Also, by buying friendship with Pakistan they were hoping they would get some assistance in stopping alquaeda and the taliban from slipping across the border into Pakistan when under attack and then slipping back into afghanistan when the heat died down. It costs the US billions in aid to Pakistan to try and get this cooperation and it was money poorly spent. It appears that Pakistan does just enough to look like they are on side and no more. Consequently, Osama bin laden was found living in pakistan in an army town very close to army facilities.
America is obviously aware of the situation but what else can they do but continue to pay up. ?

America (and the West) needs Pakistan, because they have the bomb.

They are worried about the global implications if Pakistan becomes (more?) unstable.

No. Afghanistan is now theoretically an ally of the west. Probably not for long but while the current government is in charge in Afghanistan it would have no interest in making trouble in Pakistan.
It never would have really. The border regions are a similar people on both sides and that's what makes it so easy for them to hop back and forwards.
It's also what makes it so difficult in those regions to make a clear border. There is generally no distinct line where the ethnicity of the inhabitants changes from one people to another. It's just a gradual blur, so wherever the border is drawn, there are always people on the wrong side which want the border moved. Thus there is constant fighting to achieve the unachievable.
