I've got a season of sport under my belt and think it'd be a good time to hit the books to understand more about local wind patterns and such. I'd like to be able to look at what is happening on seabreeze and understand why the wind predictions are the way they are. Does anyone have any good links they can forward to me ?

Highs and lows.
Talk to others at the beach.
Check out the BOM
Google etc...
Then when you think you have a good grasp on it mother nature will always have the upper hand!

There is some good info in the Qld Maritime Safety "Small Ships Manual".

Learn to read a synoptic chart.
Low pressure systems - wind blows clockwise and inwards.
High pressure systems - wind blows anti-clockwise and outwards.
The closer the isobars (lines on the chart) the windier it is.
Learnt this at school 20 odd years ago and has been very helpful.

haha, on my drive the other day I was actually watching the trees, trying to pick out the wind in hopes of a seabreeze.
