Hey guys. Im only new to surfing, but I found a cool way to get heaps of wax on a surfboard real quick. I kept waxing my board but it was always really slippery. It always seemed the wax was coating the board instead of going on in chunks that would grip. So I got a bucket of hot water and put the wax in there for 5 or 10 minutes. Then I pulled it out and it was like rubber; I was able to bend it in my hands. I then rubbed it on my board and it resulted in the chunkiest, fattest waxing ever! I mean the board had massive chunks of wax on it and I used the whole block in about 2 minutes.. Cant see myself slipping off now! Just thought Id share incase there are any learners out there who are like me and don't want to slip off all the time and look any worse like I did!

Yeah I used sex was for cool to cold water. At the moment its pretty cold! But yeah I think the problem was I put it over the old wax which was Palmers. When I got home I looked at the board and it seemed like the new wax just filled in the holes and bumps of the old wax, rather than making chunks. It was just a bit disappointing cause Ive only just learnt to surf properly and I set myself up for some promising waves, only to slip straight off. At one stage I did the splits cause my front foot slipped to the nose, then gripped because the areas with no wax had more grip than the rest of the board! But yeah Im heading to the shop to get more wax so I can do my other boards like this one.

That's it, so next time you buy some wax just get a comb too.
Clean the whole board (Take all the old ****ty wax) then do the job again. I was only joking ealier on as I don't think you need a full block (unless you've got a 9').
Then after a couple of time surfing and waxing the board you could use the comb to rough up the old wax a bit.
good luck with your surfin
