cone sail guy lost cred with me when he said a boat "keels over". (they heel over). rest of that stuff is great !!!

No, it was a very expensive looking ocean cruiser moored in the Hobart port around the time of the sydney to hobart one year. From memory it had three towers coming of the deck with a semicurcular sheild around one half of the spriraled "sail" or what ever you want to call it. which could rotate to windward. looking like a drum mower blade standing on one end. I dont know what it did but I would guess charge batteries for an electic motor rather than direct link to propulsion.

Pretty sure that would have been the Cousteau societies ship called the Alcyone or "Daughter of the Wind"

must be a very efficient sail tower grumps if you look closely the anemometer is pointing forwards as is the flag..which means one thing this ship's going faster than the wind unless it's on engine modenice name that 'Alcyone' maybe i'll name my daughter that if ever i get a chance
