Anyway Pointman is the title of a killer track by one of my favourite Australian bands...The Mark of Cain.

I also like the military metaphor of being out on point...the idea of being totally dependent on oneself and being out there on the edge of reason...it reminds me of why I love windsurfing so much, it's a pretty individualistic sport and you do put yourself in extreme situations sometimes.
