Just bought a second hand wave board but it just won't do the stuff I see in the magazines. I took it out the other day and I couldn't even get on it. I have been trying to windsurf for a few days now and am concerned there might be a defect in the board as I have yet to be able to do anything, not even loops.

After a couple of days on my kitsurfing gear I could do all the tricks in the book and decided that I would try to master windsurfing too, but there seems to be a problem with the equipment.

Can anyone shed some light on the subject?

another possible reason is a variation of a computer term PEBCAK
the issue here could be PEBBAB (Problem Exists Between Board And Boom)

Is the fin in back to front? This is quite a common mistake with beginners and can lead to all sorts of control issues. I did this the other day and my board was all over the place, so check this. Another pointer is foot positioning and footstraps. Make sure you have your backfoot in the backstrap and not the front strap on the opposite side - this again leads to control issues and can affect radical tricks such as the forward loop.

Did you snap your board in the massive break and have to buy a new one?

Try attaching the sail to the board somehow. It helped me once.

Can't believe some dudes are taking this thread seriously...itz hilarious...
But for what itz worth, try taking your board to a public swimming pool and carving up things there... including hapless swimmers... and get it on tape too... good4 YouTube... the other benefit of this approach izz that if you should happen to 'pickle' - there are always friendly pool attendants there to 'rescue' you...[}:)]
