yep id share my data. in the interests potentially spreading it to others. but id be pretty quick to delete the thing if it appeared to be being misused, or if it was clunky s**t software that slowed my phone down.

One slight concern is they may use it for more than just tracing covid contacts. eg working out which locations people frequent (e.g. remote surf spots), and closing them down (even if theres no covid in the area). Which could be ok, and a good public health benefit, but could also be overly intrusive.

actually i think its a pretty good iniative, if we are going to be in this for 6- 12 months and having a widely used phone ap reduces the amount of restrictions on what we are allowed to do, then im all for it.

Imagine the scenario - pubs + restauraunts etc can open, the footys on, whatever... but only if everyone has the app installed..... or similar.

Most all apps are developed taking as much advantage of stock library routines not written from scratch.. On the face of it it sounds sensible for the development process.. IT is notoriously buggy in rapid development mode.. But the down side is 1 efficiency and 2 access requirements. You load an app and it asks for permission to do everything any of the off the shelf routines need.. Mostly totally unrelated to the app.
Analogy with a multistory office building.. You belong to a business on 15 floor occupying 4 of 10 zones on that floor. The app says off the shelf location global.. Off the shelf business directory global.. Off the shelf records and data management global.. Etc etc so nothing refined about it....
You load TI****OK...that capture your life and show the world app..then u are relying on every other app to work securely...
Some years back a US uni' developed an xcellent. Firewall approach to controlling access to your contacts... But unless it was part of an operating system.. It had a fantastic frontdoor guard and no control over backdoor access...
We rely on the legislature to guide and guard our privacy... The phone as it stands is way to convenient to give up regardless of privacy issues.. That horse bolted in 2008-ish ....

I agree airmail, it will never completely remove the risk but adds an increased level of assurance. But most importantly, it will allow quicker tracing of transmissions and maybe help science understand transmissions better.

Those that don't own, or refuse to carry a mobile phone are just the next generation of anti-vaccers. In the minority and irrelevant statistically.
The current lockdown provisions in WA combined with my work and lifestyle has meant almost no difference to what I can do during lock-down but I'll get the app, because it's the right rink to do for the greater good, and I know big brother can get, and already has all my data anyway.
