2 sand or plough type anchors. Bigger the better really. At least one with chain.
Drop one off the bow (with chain) then reverse in towards shore. Hold the rope and get it to bite. When close to shore get someone to jump off the back and drag the other anchor up the sand. Bury it.
Pull your boat out off bow anchor to desired distance then tie that one off. Then pull the back one till both are tight and tie it off. Wont go anywhere.
Take a mask and swim out and make sure its set. A float on the ropes a good idea so it doesn't get run over.
Hope that makes sense.

Watch the tide and don't be tempted to anchor too close, seen a few boats needing a tow off after being stranded by the low tide. The southern end has limestone outcrops in the beach which I saw a very nice new boat bouncing off while the owners were in the pub or wherever. All that said you can also book the jetty pens online or use the new free beach moorings.

Agree with the above. Important to chose your bay well. Thompsons gets pretty amped, with plenty of competing stereo's. Geordie is really well protected from swell and wind. a few boats tuck up in the corner near the jetty. With boating I always check out what others are doing and copy the most successful one... Geordie also has toilets and warm showers that are free to use and free gas bbq overlooking the bay, and the cafe there is doing good things. make the over nighter much easier.

We would beach anchor in Longreach for that very reason. Warm showers..
