well this is a very topical issue but generally if bike riders continue to take up a portion of roadway and delay traffic flow then they to should be subject to pay rego and insurance to use the road as all motorist have to incure this charge and privilage! or they should just stay on the riding tracks provided and let the pedestrians and joggers complain

And make little 6 year old johny get and pay for out of his own pocket money,a licence and roadworthy for his bmx every year.[}:)]
Then make all the pedestrians get walking licences and pay road tax because they use the zebra crossings.[}:)]
Licence is for education and know the road rules, roadworthy to make sure the cyclist can stop to give way and obey road rules.
This country is getting sofa king anal you'll all have to pay to breath soon..
6 year old little johnny is not going to ride 3 abreast with his mates on a busy road YOU WOULD NOT LET HIM would you?

I Ride a bike's quite often, mainly for fitness on a road bike but occaisionally on my mountain bike for commuting.... I will ride in packs 4 wide in the mornings...But I'm talking at like 6 - 6.30 Then I'll generally drop behind or take a different path from the main bunch that ride 4 - 5 wide....I think that it's rude and inconsiderate and in Darwin sooner or later you're going to get a country muppet come and clean the whole lot of you up in his ford F250 or something.... Unfortunately the few of us that piss people off get discriminateed against by idiots like Kilo....But soon enough a lot more people will be riding once Fuel is up at 2 - 2.50/L!!

Yeah.. there should be a law against landyachts - they're dangerous, they speed, and there's no safety certification process...

Besides, they leave tire marks all over the pristine lake / beach surfaces, and research shows that they are having a major impact on the habitat and populations of the lesser-spotted burrowing salt weevil.

D'OH!! Damn those lesser-spotted burrowing salt weevils!! I knew once they got public attention it would be our undoing!! That's it I'm selling everything and buying a Camry!

I have a little trick i overtake them leaving millimeters, one of three things could happen

a) they keep riding giving me the bird

b) they realise how dangerous it is a start riding on the bike path

or

c) i hit them and they can never ride again

your sick. 2/3rds of my ride there are no "path options" but there is a 1 metre sectioned off on the road for bikers. drivers tent to neglect the tiny little yellow dots marking bike paths on the road but i assure you there is almost a metre. Its people like you that should have there lisence taken away. its not a game of who gets more road half the time (maybe they are avoiding glass), so if you dare think its funny to give them a MM of space... seek help.

Second that!

I'm sure someone in government somewhere at some time has thought of something like it. They tried to introduce something similar in England. They called it "head tax" I think. Instead of paying a flat land tax, they were going to charge by the number of people at the residence, therefore a charge on individuals whether working or not. A type of "breathing tax".

Then those weight-weenie super-light bikes will almost be worth it.

What next a footpath tax for 80kg pedestrians.

That will encourage people to lose weight.

Solution -

-Government provides better transport infrastructure for bike paths and also probably public transport

-Citysiders (term loosy applied to these idiot drivers) learn to think of others and stop being a number in a cage

-All road users ride a bike on the road at some stage regularly and see how fun it is when idiots don't drive according to riders needs

(Bam! Instant Result!)

It is so easy isn't it... problem is there are so many angry people in this world and once they get behind that wheel its like they have crossed the line on a footy field, whiteline fever, and bam they go from just generally upset people to total liabilities with no regard for their fellow man. The world is an odd place, at least we aren't at war!

I have a mate that now carries an equalizer under the cross bar on his pushy.

We were riding home from the gym one night and yelled at a panel van that cut us off when doing a wheelie around a corner. They came back at us, jumped out of the car and it was on for young and old. My mate ended up in hospital with severe cuts and concussion, I managed to avoid a substantial bashing by fluking a couple of Glasgow kisses (I'm not Scottish by the way). My mate is a well known Fireman and the local coppers took a dislike to the attention given to one of their own (emergency services buddies). Fortunately I got their license number and they got theirs... The old saying, don’t get mad get even. My mate who got bashed even made a buck out of those prihks... Through consulting with some allied health friends we identified all the signs a physiologist would pick up on through counseling for trauma victims. To cut a long story short, the panel van hoons had to pay substantial compensation to my mate, no doubt enhanced due to our lark with the psycho assessment.

Anyways back to the equalizer. A piece of metal piping that comes in handy for cars that misbehave

The worst thing is i overtake the bikes then when i stop at the lights ( which a lot of riders choose not to do ) you lane split and overtake all the cars that just overtook you meaning you once again block traffic causing us to overtake you.

Why are you overtaking bikes when there is a red light up ahead? You are going to have to stop anyway, why not just roll up slowly to the lights?

I never understood this behaviour.

BAM!

i always thought the amber light meant speed the hell up

Alright let’s spin it around

You can’t understand why cars overtake you before a red light

I cant understand why a slower vehicle being a bike or a car would overtake a car that has already overtaken them, if you choose to travel below the speed limit that is fine just don’t hold up the people who are willing to travel at the recommended speed.

Is that not a fair statement?

Why don’t bikes wait in line at red lights like everyone else?

Jump on the bike path if you want to skip the red lights

If you run a cyclist or a pedestrian or a horse rider over on the road in your 2 tonne car no judge in the world is going to let you off in court.

He's gonna ask where you were going in such a hurry. Work? Hungry Jacks? Your mates house?

Therese the attitude alexb is talking about

Cyclists can do anything and not get in trouble from anyone even the jacks!!!!

O look your right

Section 2.1.1 of VicRoads

Bikes are god and can do anything

Including ride at 30km/h below the speed limit
Where a driver will be fined for travelling so slow

Bikes can Lane Split
Drivers will be fined for this act also

Try hard bikers are permitted to ride in wannabe tour da france groups
I don’t want to know what sort of fine you would get for driving 50+ cars in a group?

Cyclists can where lycra
Driver will be pulled over for indecent exposure

Boy is my face red I apologises to all cyclists as i never read the rule books

Hi kilo513 or is it Jesus ?

A few points,

1) You seem to be encouraging people to have "accidents" with cyclists! aka seriously injuring people. That's just not cricket if you hurt someone with a family.

2) When someone makes a good point I'll back it up. especially concerning the traffic light topic, you can not fault that logic, lights go green, yellow then red. You don't need physic powers to know when a light will go red.

3) Why are you so angry ? why do you hate people on bikes so much, especially the ones in spandex ? is it you secretly want to ware spandex, but get done for indecent exposure every time ? If you rode a bike you might lose a bit of weight.

4) all your posts are getting the thumbs down rating. its a good indication that your your writing is inappropriate!

5) I hope you learn to cool down a bit before you go off and hurt some poor kid riding a bike.

7) You called me your sheep. This does not make sense when I've been paying your out for your silly rants, not following you "Jesus".

6) have a good day and I assume your just jumping on here just to stir some people.

Kind Regards,

Don’t be scared make fun of me what ever

but don’t lie

1) Not even responding to that yes you got me i am out to hurt people
(Why would people actually believe i want to hurt people i learnt something a joke/sarcasm doesn’t really work when you cant see the person) if u read all the posts i am with making it safer for cyclists saying the goverment needs to put more bike paths / lanes in?

2) I laughed with you at me over that comment, it was very creative

3) I am angry because cyclists make a nice drive along the beach so stressful, I to am a cyclist but I choose to ride on the bike path as I cant ride at 60km/h like the other vehicles on the road.

4) Good point I will try and fix that

5) ****************

6 or 7)i was calling you a sheep cause you followed what other people where saying by just agreeing with them and not saying what you thought.

7 or 6) No not really i do believe something has to be done about the bike situation i still stand by that the government needs to spend more on bike lanes because there are way to many cyclists that are to cool for bike paths.

And don’t you dare say that its to slow on bike paths(uneven surface, walkers, joggers ) because that would be the biggest contradiction ever..........

no need to call anyone fat... bully
